I have a Lenovo laptop & for some reason my Documents folder had a Japanese name out of the box, which caused me to have this same issue. Renaming it fixed the problem.
Thanks for your reply. The folder is named correctly but I do have some beef with Onedrive. I do not understand how it works. It had no memmory left so I got the upgrade to 100 gb and now it just sucks in more items into it that I don't need. Don't know if that's related but those two issue appeared at the same time. Thanks regardless.
No, it works fine here. I unlocked the very first achievement. The one you get for entering the bunker for the first time. I wish I knew what exactly I did to help out but I was doing what could be described as equivelent of button mashing.
What can i do if i deleted OneDrive? Reinstall it?
I actually fixed mine issue by deleting it it seems.
It felt to me as if the game was trying to back up some files on onedrive
but it just would let it.
i Deleted my onedrive but stil not working......
That is tough man, I wish I knew why it's working for me now. Have you tried reinstalling and all that? Is it on your main drive?
Do I understand correctly that for the game to work one most have one drive functioning, because I have never configured it on my computer or plan to do so in the future?
Donno most people have it and have no issue so I assume not but you can refund it if it doesn't work right? Unless Steam changed policies
you're set to private so I can't see what types of games you play, but what I will tell you from personal experience, is you really need to have a dual thumbstick/touchpad controller unless you are willing to use a mod, take the time to configure and tune it, and deal with it's quirks, for keyboard + mouse input; it is not the best game for keyboarders, and will take some practice to both remap keys in a way that makes sense, then get good at it. (which should be expected in most new games), just this one has no tutorial, you're thrown right into the prologue as the tutorial. many have failed this even with controllers... keyboard + mouse just is that much harder. you are hereby warned. it is... not ideal for KBM... but is quite playable, if you put in the effort.
The underlying issue is that this game fails to create, access, or manage its own save files(and associated folder) within the Documents folder if there's any other program constantly accessing it and messing with its permissions, which is exactly what OneDrive does. Some people solve it by disabling/uninstalling OneDrive entirely, but doing that sometimes leaves traces of its previous permissions on the Documents folder, meaning it has to be reinstalled/re-enabled, and then make sure it is set to not backup the Documents folder.
If this doesn't work either, then the game can't access the Documents folder for another reasion, which can be other programs doing similar stuff as OneDrive, but also simply the entire path to the Documents folder(C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\), and more specifically to the game save folder MyGames(C:\Users\USERNAMEDocuments\MyGames) containing ANY non-latin characters, as the game somehow only recognizes latin characters, meaning that some users who have non-latin characters in their username(such as russian characters) might also face this issue, as the game will simply stop reading that path and thus fail to create its own save data, resulting exactly in the issue OP is describing.
I play all kinds of games from shooters to strategy.
I've not played a hack and slash type game before but I'm looking forward to the release of Stellar Blade on PC so thought I might give this game a shot first to see how I like the genre.
I'm not that computer savee so that would be a considerable task for me. As I wrote before, I haven't even configured One Drive, so I'm thinking that should allow me to play the game without encountering this problem.
