Nier will not detect my controller/s

I've tried my PS4, PS5, and my Switch controller. I've used Big Screen mode set special to Playstation and Switch and even used the Generic Controller support and nothing works. I've seen a few of these threads that are dead with no answers. I know that people often just use DS4Windows to make it work but this seems like an issue that Steam should look into.

Try restarting the computer. It has happened to me with an xBox controller(should work out of the box) and restarting fixed it.

Otherwise you may have to configure something regarding Steam input or using a 3rd party tool. Idk on that field but they are areas I would investigate.

Are you using the controller wired or wireless? I use my PS4 controller wired with no issues.

Yeah, I'm wired too. when the game loads up, it doesn't even give me options to reconfigure the controls for anything other than keyboard. The game just doesn't see the controller at all but Big Picture does.

I actually have the same problem where mine is wired but, its not working for this game, and i'm not finding this fun,
