coloured damage numbers?

is this an a2 thing? haven't played in a while, loaded an old save route c, a2 with lvl 4 iron pipe and cypress stick, no crit chips and the "hud damage values" where showing in red for crits (almost every hit) and green for heals. Started a new game and have acquired lv 3 pipe but not seeing any red nor green numbers with 2b.

Cypress Stick lvl 4 has the Hero Sigil ability, which gives the damage values that look, and it also changes the appearence of chests. Both are references to Dragon Quest, cause the Cypress Stick itself is a recurring weapon from Cypress Stick.

Just to add, the Engine Blade(which is a weapon from FF15) also has a similar ability at lvl 4, changing the damage values to blue and changing their font to resemble how damage values appear in FF15, and also changes the ghosting effect of evading with a blue hue like in FF15.
