What are these golden machines?

I recently started playing this game, I am loving it and have a lot to see in it. Some things caught my attention, like some little golden robots. I noticed that they are much more resistant than the others and have a slightly different behavior. Does anyone know what they mean and if they drop a different reward when eliminated?

These are challenging robots, the stubbies all have unique names. The first one drops a Power Up Part (S). They aren't marked as a quest but are treated as one.

Once you defeat Courageous brother, Hateful Sister, and Vengeful Child they will not respawn.

If you're having trouble defeating them, either level up, or wait until you're in Route C and hack them with 9S. And yes they drop a special material needed for upgrades.
