Anybody here played the sequel? (Spoilers/lore discussion)
***This forum post assumes you're like me and want to get more from the Nier Universe after playing Automata and Replicant, but don't want rush through a mobile game. Spoiler rich discussion ahead****

What is there to enjoy in Reincarnation that's in connection to automata and replicant?

I know Reincarnation is shutting down in April, and I REALLY hate the auto-battler gameplay. I refuse to play something I flat out get bored of within 5 minutes. . . It sucks, but sadly Yoko along with Square Enix insist the mobile game is essential to the plot of the series.

So with that being said, every time I look for summaries on youtube or notes on the wiki starved for the lore, it's either incomplete, written at a time when the final story hasn't been out yet like 2 years ago, or simply has vague notes on a theory about how this all takes place in the human server on the moon. This gave me the idea to create this forum post as a discussion point for it/confirmation.

Feel free to spoil things, as I'll say it bluntly, I don't think the majority of fans of the mainline games will bother to rush playing a this before it shuts down.

i tried to play the game but the story was so confusing and the gameplay was so terrible how can they think that making a mobile game was a good idea ? and this is something that i said before for me nier saga ended for me when nier repliant ended .. i think even automata had a bad story but loved the gameplay .. but serous automata and forward games is not a masterpiece in my opinion if the story gets a rewamp

Money. Obviously Square Enix tasked him to make the game. It's his job lol, so in the end I am guessing that he had to do it, and that's giving the benefit of the doubt.

It's his job. He could quit, and that's one way to say no, but in general if you refuse to do your job or really anything that your employer asks, what happens?

I read a youtube comment quoting him saying something like "The story to nier is finished, but I like money", so there's that too. It's unsourced, so take that with a grain of salt I suppose.

He can say no, and just like the author, he loses income by doing so. When faced with putting food on the dinner table or not, I think it might be easy to see why a lot of books have rushed stories. Your point? We can both speculate all day.

Honestly, I didn't hop on here to debate why Reincarnation exists. . . I just want to know what happens in relation to the well established stories at this point.

Understandable. I just don't want this devolving into the typical steam forum back and forth :P.
