Game still crash after 7 years

i'm playing at lowest graphic setting, still crash and freeze at certain points...seems that the 2021 bug fixes doesn't work at all for me. Can anyone help me to find a solution?

well im running linux ubuntu 22.04 and with proton 8.0.5 and i dont have a problem at all with the game there was one crash but that was months ago

what system are you running ?

What are your specs?
Also, do you still have the old FAR mod? If so, remove it entirely, the old mod is not compatible with the latest game patch.

What "certain points"? Is it consistent or random?

Try verifying game files.

I played through the whole game unmodded last month with 0 crashes.

Could you post your system stats? the game can get quite bullet hellish in "certain parts" so if you have a low end computer or even a laptop, those could absolutely cause crashing. another crash i have encountered multiple times which while very uncommon, i play quite a bit, is if using a controller, and spamming the dodge button too much in different directions before the dodge animation has a chance to trigger, will cause crashing on my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ laptop.
it is also possibly virus related, but i would imagine most viruses would outright just not let you start the game entirely.

RAM 8 GB

Actually it's impossible to reach the first save point. i've verified my game files and seems ok. It crashes during the goliath cutscene, but also randomically during the path to reach him.

i don't have any FAR mode installed

I had the problem with crashes too but one forum fix helped me with this issue: I put a check in steam settings "In game - use overlay big picture when using controller" or somethin' like that. Hope it helps you.

dude, idk how. But ur issue was helping for me. The first chapter had start without error!

Before my tryings was ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by game. Thx a lot for ur comment at here. I was thinking I have exclusive error and troubles with my PC

is it the recommended driver for your grafics card ?

also have you tried running without the steam overlay ?

also check for steam launh options for the game it can helpt in small ways

for me it was running great out the back

i have intel core 8 with 16 treads

also nvidia rtx 2060 ti

i'm guessing since you didn't share your processor that you are on laptop? just know that laptop parts and desktop parts are not the same. if they were the same why would they make desktop chips that run 250-300w and laptop parts at 15w? why not make them all run at 15w? same with graphics cards. i know sometimes they use similar part numbers but they are completely different products.

Even if laptop it should be very capable, those laptop cpus aren't a slouch anymore
and they run somewhere between 30 -50 watts on the laptop side now.
I recently acquired a laptop with a i5 10300h and that cpu can eat up 40-45 watts underload.
Might be possible not enough ram too, 8GB is pretty low for 2024.
So imagine say windows is eating up 3GB ram, that only leaves like less than 5GB for games and some are ram hogs.
