Being a personal preference I can say I enjoyed very much the Japanese audio in these games, yeah there will be some parts that maybe you'll be focused in some fighting and its kinda hard to read at subtitles but maybe thats just me tho.
It was very worth it regardless.
Not to mention that the Japanese VA's here are not only very well known in the industry but have done an excellent job at delivering an incredible experience. I have seen very good comments of the English VA's too, a lot.
But yeah it all comes down to personal preference. I really like to think that the real voices of the characters you meet wheter its a game or a show are the ones of their original voice actor/actress. So I try to respect that path and get to know their first ever voice, the real one. For me ofc.
I'm not entirely sure, but I think the background of Kainé's story is quite different in japanese, since the english version was rewritten to sound very bland, instead of brutal like in japanese
The english voices in Automata and Replicant are really good, so you aren't missing anything. I can't avoid identifying 2B by the voice of Kira Buckland, and 9S with Kyle McCarley's voice. And everybody else too
Yeah, this is what makes me not wanna play in Japanese.
I can't say anything about english voices btw, I never used them, but I loved the japanese ones. If you are fine with both maybe visit MyAnimeList or Behind The Voice Actors and check if there are voices you already know from somewhere else and you like. For example 2B's seiyuu is the same of Mikasa from Shingeki no Kyojin, 9S's voices a character in Tokyo Ghoul.
My PS 5 controller wasn´t detected by Replicant and KB + mouse is so ♥♥♥♥. So beware.
Replicant first. Automata is a sequel. Replicant 1.22 is a remaster/remake of a 2010 game. Automata spoils you stuff about Replicant at some point. Plus Automata will have a bigger impact if you play it after knowing Replicant story (check the drama CD too after Replicant, it's on YT).
