Wandering couple quest lost?
I finally reached the location of the wandering couple quest and it just disappeared! In the quest log there is an x over its icon. Does anyone know what's up with that?

Yes. Why?

Because that quest is the point of no return, any quest at that location will be marked as failed the moment the flooded city main quest show up

Only exception Emil's memories but after finishing it, all unfinished side quest will marked as failed

Edit
Don't worry about missing it, you can redo it on route B
Or after finishing route C/D with chapter select

Oh, come on! This is so unfair, up till now there were no timed quests at all, and NOW it happens? What now, do I have to start over?

Well, at least that's something, though it the route to it could have been less obscure....Thanks for the info.

Just remember one thing, there is no missable in this game, if you manage to miss everything chapter select is there to help you getting 100% save file
Hell you can even buy achievements lol

That's convenient, for all the contrived map design the game has.

I necroe'd this so anyone can remember how badly designed this game is. You fail a side quest as soon as you reach the next location required for it. Bloody genius.

Wrong.
The Flooded City, and thus the next part of this quest, is accessible as soon as the crater in the city ruins opens up at the end of chapter 5-02, while the main quest that will make the wandering cople become unavailable is in chapter 7-01, meaning you have an entire chapter and 7 or 8 main quests between when you can continue this side quests to when it actually becomes unavailable.

Right.

I had no clue Flooded City was accessible for any of that period of time. Yes, the red dot for this quest was there, but the game had pretty much trained me by this point not to bother trying to get to red dots in unexplored areas before a main quest has told me to go there, because in the early game whenever I tried it I never got anywhere.

Take these three ??? spots I've got on my map, but like a freaking mile underground. Not sure how long each of them has been there, but it feels like at least one of them has been there for most of the damn game. No real clue at any point that it's even possible to get to any of them, let alone how, and googling for that kind of thing is often how you run into spoilers, so I've waited with the assumption that all will be revealed in time. But now that I'm screwed out of finishing at least one quest, I know that that faith was undeserved, and I'm better off risking the spoilers.

There're a lot of quest that can be done in more than one of the 3 routes(playthoughs) so don't fret about it, move on and note down the quest for the next time you have the chance.
Also whether you like it or not(it's subjective) this game doesn't put a beacon over it's content: most of the time you find it out by exploring near the area the main quest requires you to go at a given time. Some things you don't find them the 1st time, or even the 2nd.

It's makes a lot of sense for a gigantic game to mark every interesting thing in the map and guide the player there so if they're interested can do the checklist. But N:A in a contained game in the amount of content: no need to trace a red dotted line to the content. Both are valid and have sense, no need to be frustrated for one or the other option in design.
