However, I do have my share of misgivings towards how it was handled and wish Route B was smarter about it's pacing: To force the player to tread through tired content, is detrimental to its enjoyment. It's all in the service of art, which I can appreciate, yet Route B is quite bare on new content; even if it's truncated by upgrades, items and etc., it's a lot of 'been there done that' which is too much to ask from the average player.
Regardless, I love the game tremendously.
Not so much his moves or abilities but for me it was more to do with his personality and appearance. I'm not really into the whole fetish thing with shotas, traps, feminine looking guys with white hair. I didnt like it in Metal Gear Solid 2 (my first MG game) and i didnt like it in Nier. Getting to play a character like Snake only to have him replaced by Raiden or in Niers case playing as 2B and having to play 9S.
And while the games are hard at first, you will eventually get used to them and then it will be much easier. Just carry enough recovery with you in case of failures.
This game is an onion. The A ending is supposed to be unsatisfying, because you're not supposed to stop there. The more you see of the game the further the onion is peeled back and the more you come to accept. Ending A I thought this game was pretty good. Ending B I decided is was truly great. Endings C & D secured it as my game of the year and Ending E convinced me it is an all-time masterpiece.
I wasn't a big fan of Adam and Eve either, to be honest. Neither one of them won my interest or sympathy, not even in Route B. And they were way too over-the-top anime-esque for me. As far as the story goes, they're my only real complaint.
However, without going into specifics, there is a much, much more interesting villain that's presented later.
Also, be aware that you're not going to keep repeating that part of the story while you get "new endings". Don't think about it as new endings, it's more like episodes in a tv show, time will keep going and new things will happen. A and B endings feel more like a prologue to me (not because of the lenght, but the story)
Since you're asking for tips, if you're getting tired of playing this part remember that you can change to easy mode for some time if you're stuck in a specific battle. Or all the time if you want to rush it. Not a fan of the idea, I personally like it hard, but could help preventing you to miss a really great game. Don't forget to go back to normal or hars as soon as you finish route B, tho.
Also, about Adam and Eve, they felt too anime cliched for me too, but they make sense in the story as a whole and you're not going to see them anymore. This first "season" is more archetypical, as I already stated, A&B will feel like a mere prologue when you start C.
I would ignore it. There aren't too many situations where it's mandatory. In many cases, all it really does is make fights longer (comparing a situation where it takes 20 seconds to hack an enemy to a situation where it takes about 4 or 5 seconds to slash it to death).
