What's the meaning of Self Destruct?

I just bought the game, and i saw Self Destruct option and what it is for?

The special pod attacks also lock you in place. The heavy weapons also lock you in place. Your point?

2B cannot move (lying down) in a while, also the movement become slow in a while.

You're supposed to be taking a risk in a daring situation when you use self-destruct in a serious way. The game even has an option to disable it so you don't accidentally press the button combination xD.

Also it should leave all your character surroundings clean.

That said it has it's funny uses :P

Try using it in the Bunker

It's a sexy button that should be used as a last resort in battle or else you'll be left with 1HP in a deadly environment.

Otherwise it gives you "Robo Trigger" power up later in the game for exploding, at the cost of draining your health slowly. Essentially it overclocks your character, hence why it's dangerous for a different reason.
