Game is no longer detecting my gamepad

Hey guys. Has anyone else encountered this problem when trying to play NieR: Automata where the controls just stop working and go by undetected?

It started not too long ago. To be honest, I just started the game recently and only had one full session, but during that time the controls worked fine, the game played great, etc. Now I'm having a problem where I'm starting up the game and it's not picking up my controller at all. I can't get past the start screen and navigate through the main menu with my controller, I have to use my keyboard and mouse to exit.

I've been reading up about it on Google and it seems to be a common problem, but apparently I'm the only PC gamer that isn't using a PS4 DualShock controller. I just use the Logitech controllers and usually they're pretty reliable for me -- but everything I'm coming up with is talking about how to get PlayStation controllers working and don't really apply to my setup. There was a Big Picture fix that was supposed to work where you changed the Controller Settings, but it didn't work for me.

Anybody else with non-PS controllers have this issue and managed to fix it?

I use switch/ps4 myself so i cant confirm this will work but have you tried using the steam controller options? that may be able to help.

Go to settings on steam, controller and find generic controller, damn this sounds really bad. Hope this helps.

Alright, so I tried the Big Picture method again as you guys suggested and I found an option that I didn't see last night (For some reason I don't remember the option showing up), but there was an extra Xbox Support option below the one that was already there. I made sure I had both of those checked as well as the Generic Controller Support and the Xbox Guide Buttons option checked. I was able to get the controls working again by doing this.

I don't know if the issue will recur or not, since I did get the controls working before and then the problem came back. So I'll keep you guys posted and let you know if the problem comes back.
