Why don't they remake Drakengard 3, instead of Nier Replicant/Gestalt?
Nier Replicant/Gestalt runs perfectly fine on PS3, while Drakengard 3 runs like trash.
Also, if Drakengard 3 sells well, they can consider making Drakengard 4 in the future.

They don't follow this logic

Nier Automata is poop of a PC port and it sold well they should consider making Nier Automata 2

Name recognition, also, while the games are all interconnected, Nier and Nier Automata share more of a connection, thematically and stylistically, than Nier Automata and Drakengard 3.

I personally disliked Drakengard 3 but agreed they should bring them all to PC at some point.

Unfortuantly, I think the Drakengard series might be done for. As I understand it, Drakengard 3 was supposed to be the revival of the series, but it was considered at Square to be a critical failure, sales wise and performance wise.

It's...nothing short of a miracle that they got Nier: Automata, with development PLATINUM GAMES no less, to be made. But who knows? My bet is since Nier was the big title to put Yoko Taro on the map, they are going to continue with the Nier series and leave Drakengard alone.

But who knows?

If they think that the Nier:Automata is successful because of the Nier title then they are dead wrong. Like Synth Samurai said, they should focus on Nier Automata 2 instead of remaking the old titles.

With how Yoko Taro works on his games, there'll never be such thing as Automata 2.
Also, Nier Reincarnation(the next main game in the series) is already a thing.

Oh the sad days where a mobile game is considered a main game. Sigh.

I would prefer a new project over a remake tbh.

First Drakengard would probably be too controversial, people would be like "Wait, Drakengard 3? So there were others?" Then they would be introduced to the colourful cast of the first game :)

Drakengard 3 is where the Neir saga starts. 1&2 were about different stories but they do connect.

Drakengard was in a parallel universe has multiple endings 5th ending is very important to understand it all.

Drakengard 2 was a spinoff story revolves around Nowe, a boy raised by the dragon Legna, fighting against a tyrannical faction of knights, encountering characters from the previous game and becoming entangled in the fate of the world.

Drakengard 3 takes place roughly one hundred years before the events of Drakengard

Nier Replicant The game is a spin-off from the Drakengard series, and follows the fifth ending of the first game, the events of which have left the planet Earth in a state of decay. Set over one thousand years after this, the game puts the player in control of the titular protagonist Nier, as he attempts to find a cure for an illness, known as the Black Scrawl, to which his daughter Yonah has succumbed. Partnering with a talking book known as Grimoire Weiss, he journeys with two other characters, Kainé and Emil, as he attempts to find a remedy and understand the nature of the creatures known as Shades that stalk the world.

Nier Automata It is a sequel to the 2010 video game Nier, itself a spin-off and sequel of the Drakengard series.

I hope this straightens everything out. If you all didn't get to play the old ones.

Still confused as to why Eve had the Watchers symbol on his chest.
Welp, dg3 is a reeeeally bad example in optimization... though everybodys prefer Nier lol... idk... Nier is way more famous than dg3... like, they could remake dg1 but they did not too. Nier is a lot more popular than DG series so remaking Nier is better for square:seriousboss:

I mean FF 8 was considered the worst FF of the pre Ps2 era yet they wasted resources "remastering" it.

I'm hoping the success of Replicant will fet them to put the Drakengard games on steam as I never played them and I'd like to see the story start to finish xD

the original nier is rare and hard to find and never got a pc port.

and automatamade people more interested in it so it's getting the remake.

Old thread, but wanted to share my input from finding this in 2024.

Even though loosely connected by plot, Drakengard 1 & 3 is still substantially important lore to how the 2 NieR titles come to be. If anything, I’d love even a remake that addresses the weaknesses of both titles, and configures them to today’s standards and storytelling NieR had perfected. Drakengard is literally how the games come to exist in the first place, and as much as I appreciate it’s very…VERY brief cameo in the Automata anime (showing Angelus’s skewered body on Tokyo Tower during the scene they find the tower of TV’s in the theme park), and how the entire mother’s diary parts in Replicant dedicated a good chunk of the worlds destruction to the death of Caim & Angelus along with the mother beast, even including weapons modeled after Angelus’s multiple stages herself, it would benefit the fanbase to experience NieR’s roots in a modern day Drakengard release. I doubt it’ll happen, but after its slight inclusions in the anime and NieR: Replicant diary entries, it brings me some peace knowing it still isn’t forgotten.
