NieR Automata crashes in tutorial level

I've posted here before and I was told to update my graphics drivers! And thank you for that advice, because they were severely outdated, and I did end up getting farther without the game crashing this time. I was able to beat the armsaw boss in the tutorial, but after I started leaving the area and fighting some more robots, the game crashed. I have the NieR resolution fix installed and it's working properly. I am running the game on the highest settings.

Specs are:
RX 480 8GB @1.21 GHz
i5 6600 @ 3.3 GHz
8 GB DDR3-1660
Windows 8.1

If there are any fixes that I can try, please let me know.

When you installed your new drivers, did you completely uninstall the old drivers? The AMD uninstaller is sometimes insufficient when uninstalling and leaves some trace elements that may cause issues with later drivers.

One thing you could try is uninstall using DDU as that will remove everything including any trace of the older drivers before reintstall the new ones. Also make sure you delete the contents of theC:\AMD folder before starting the uninstall as this the temporary installation folder amd extracts the installation files and it could have older files in there too.

You mentioned that you were running the game on the highest settings. Make sure you turn Anti Aliasing off, as it conflicts with Ambient Occlusion and causes issues. Probably not what's causing the crashes, but still worth doing.

This is what I found on the Nier Automata support page:

"We areaware of a potential issue which may cause a blank or white screen to appearwhen using Radeon RX400 series graphics cards.

This issue only occurs when using Crimson ReLive Edition 17.2.1 on Windows 10,so if you do experience any issues, we advise you to update to the latest Crimson ReLive Edition driver."

You said you've installed Far, have also tried the suggestions in the guide as well? There is a chapter coving the white screen issue and suggestions

Thanks for this. I'm going to give it a shot. I'll have to reinstall my drivers, but I guess it's worth a shot!

Ah, thank you. I don't actually have Crimson ReLive installed on my machine, but I guess I'll try installing the latest version after I finish with DDU.
