This creator of this game, Yoko Taro, said himself that he doesn't want doing the same things. Moreover, in all of his previous games, never had the same main protagonist, even though it all exists in the same universe and is connected by a clear timeline.
So if ever this game will have a sequel, it is very much unlikely that we will see 2B, 9S and A2 as the main characters. They may appear as a NPCs just like what he did will Emil, Devola and Popula.

And by the way, the remaster of the first Nier game is on the works, just in case you don't know. Nier:Automata is a sequel to Nier:Replicant/Gestalt

Most likely there will be next chapter or next events in same universe but I doubt any of the Automata main characters will be as main focus.

I would really love to experience Pearl Harbor Descent. I've always thought that it would make a great DLC. Or a boss rush colosseum. That would be cool too.

Well to be fair, my opinion about series is closer to AC, GTA, DMC or Far Cry so in a sense you are right. But do you notice that almost every entry in this series has barely any connection beside some of the events and characters? Due to this, every game is unique in ideas, story and theme; unlike AC or other kind of sequel in which every game is almost identical to each other.
