Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising are the same type of game but singleplayer like Automata is. Devil May Cry was singleplayer until DMC5, but DMC5 is not designed in any way that lets you co-op with a specific friend. You can play with random people online with no control who shows up.
Everything else is singleplayer by them or isn't the same genre.
Dark Souls and Monster Hunter are a lot slower paced and more chunky. Sekiro is singleplayer only.
Thanks for the suggestions! Astral Chain did look interesting, but I didn't know it was the same people. I'll take a look at it!
I have played Monster Hunter World with some friends, and the Charge Blade comes close, but there's so much ending lag on every attack no matter what weapon that it just feels a bit too slow paced. Dark Souls suffers from a similar issue, as well as multiplayer being a pain to try to get working. I definitely appreciate the suggestions though!

I actually have Grimm Eclipse. Super fun game, and it has a lot of the same type of fast combat I loved about Nier. My only issue with it is I've already played the whole thing through repeatedly, unfortunately.
Too bad the servers for Rusty Hearts were shut down, that game was the ♥♥♥♥.
and Final Fantasy Type-0 doesn't have co-op in the remaster, because of lazy Square Enix porting.
I'll take a look at it! Thanks for the suggestion!
@Nope
That one does look quite good. Definitely going on my "Watch for a sale" list!~

Yeah, that was my issue with the Dark Souls games. While fun in their own right, the combat is just too slow for me. Make an errant sword swing? Welp, have fun waiting what feels like an hour for the swing to finish before you can input that dodge that would have been nice to have three seconds earlier. While not bad games, I generally just prefer Nier's high speed combat more. It's a bit easier to cover for mistaken input, but also requires much faster reactions to avoid taking damage. I definitely appreciate the help though!
