Route B
Is everything the same as Route A but just in 9S's shoes? This is my 2nd time playing after 3 whole years and since I played the first one twice, I remember everything. It gets boring whenever I do the same exact thing all over again so is it good to have it on easy mode and speedrun to A2 because I'm pretty sure A2 is different. (I finished the Route A second time in Hard Mode)

Anyone else doing this?

The main quests will be the same, up until the point others already explained where 2B and 9S will get separated, in which you'll see and play different quests.
Any side quest(few exceptions) you already completed in route A won't reappear during route B, but there will be some side quests that are exclusice to route B.
Just as an addendum, as much as side quests aren't a strict requirement, they're still extremely important for the plot, given the lore and world building they give.

Route B is almost identical to Route A except through different perspective. The game lets you carry over your levels, so I don't think hard mode would be that much different. I don't suggest you skip the cutscenes though. Bits of info revealed will be different. For instance, if you fight the Opera Singer, you will get a bit different cutscene that hints at who turned her this way. There are plenty of those throughout. I know it's a bit of a slog, but it's worth doing, IMO.

Also, there are some enemies exclusive to only 9S. You remember the gold enemies that take so much punishment if you play as 2B, like the gold tank in the desert? Well, 9S can make short work of them. You should give that a try.

BUT

the key info are in moments when 9S get separated from 2B, especially near the end of Missile Mission and during the Cult section and some moments after that. You will see what 9S is up to to get 2B out of those spots. How he came back and ended up being able to save himself in ending A.

Playing Route C will be an entirely new chapter. It is more like Episode 2 and this is where the end is, and you can choose more than one character to switch between. Route A and B are more like Episode 1 rather than a complete story.
You experience the almost the same stuff on the first few parts but given with a different context. It is like looking at the number 9 written on the ground but standing on the opposite end so that you'll see 6. Of coarse it cannot be 9 and 6 at the same time. It must be placed there with the original intention of either being a 9 or a 6. With regards to who's perspective was right is up to you to know. (I may have given more clues than I should have). There are additional cutscenses and a bit more foreshadowing on 9S play through.

By the time you reach the Flooded City for the Missile Supply Mission Main quest, the story of the route a and route b completely diverge. You got to experience what 9S went through when he got separated from 2B.

The story converge again at the final Battle with Eve, with some additional cutscences, a little bit more of those foreshadowing, and a monologue from 9S.

Route A and B lay the foundation for the third act, Route C. That is where the heavy stuff are.

Wait what do you mean the gold tank? I didn't see any gold tank as 2B. Also gold enemies?!?

Yes, there are gold enemies. Near the city's exit to the desert, there's one small machine commanding a very big robots. Those are one group of gold enemies. It's almost impossible to beat them with 2B. They take SOOOOOOOOO much damage. The only way to do it is to use 9S unique ability because it deals percentage damage. You'll know which one.

There are some more in the middle of the desert, the widest expanse area, it's a bit near the condo side. One small machine commanding a tank.

There's another near the forest, I think. I don't remember what the group is comprised of. But there's always one small machine commanding bigger ones.

Also, now that you use 9S, you might want to try to get a hand on a secret boss in the Amusement Park too. The rabbit statue in the fountain in front of the park will fight you if you deal enough damage to it while it's dormant. Try hitting it a bit and you'll note that it takes damage, unlike other inanimate objects. Keep hitting it until it fights you. You can get items to upgrade your pod to max that way. Do note that this thing is level 70. It's gonna take so much to wake it up. The easiest way is to use full charge BLADE program from pods. Charge until 3 pods appear. And once it wakes up, it will fkn kill you if you're not careful.

These gold enemies are essential to upgrading your pods as well.
