I say near persistent because I have times when I am reconnected to the network, implying I have lost it at times. I am not sure of how and why I get disconnected but I believe it's certain story points.
Try switching off the network features of the game and check your usage.
How much RAM do you have? What cpu/you?
I forgot to mention the network features were off. And Steam will eat memory, or not eat memory, whether they're on or off.
Anyway, 16 gb ram i7 6700 GTX 970. Not terrible, not great. I'm going to try running CCleaner and restarting my pc before I play next time (i usually put it in hibernate). That seems to have helped before.
Fair play, was just guessing and trying to rule it out. Though it might be the culprit.
The specs look alright. What kind of background stuff you using? It shouldn't be related to hibernate unless you have loads of stuff running in the background.
Edit :- checked store page and it shouldn't be a specs issues at all. It might be worth doing a virus check to make sure you dont have anything you shouldn't. Try malwarebytes too. It's free but works well.
I ran Malwarebytes a couple of days ago and Windows Defender so I don't think it's from anything malicious. I never really have anything else running in the background except Edge and whatever's necessary. Sometimes Asus will start something stupid up. Like I just had to end securedeletebackground.exe whatever that is.
I've been trying a few things and Steam is staying right below 50 mb memory usage atm. I restarted my pc and ran CCleaner. I always start the game from it's location folder rather than using the rungameid shortcut that Steam makes, but I ran it as an administrator this time and it's working pretty well now. And network features are on too.
I just wanted to reach out on here to see if anyone else has had the same experience as me. It's just weird to me that Steam will just keep eating memory until it's almost at 300 mbs sometimes. I've closed Nier from the task manager on 2 occasions and I just sat there for a few minutes watching Steam lose it's s*** jumping from 100 mb usage up to 400 mb and between. It's just weird like there's a memory leak or something. I got it working out now tho. Thanks for trying to help me.
I can't speak about Steam's cpu/RAM usage. I have more RAM (32) so I am not often looking at how much anything uses unless I am editing. Also, my computer is in my studio/ temporary bedroom and I use remote play with a steam link. Damn virus!
