And they released World of Final Fantasy with similar problems to NieR:Automata. It wasn't crashing near startup, but it was breaking graphics until it crashed the renderer, making the game unplayable with a 100% failure rate for people with specific GPU models. AMD GPUs were the most prone, seems Square Enix doesn't care to support current AMD hardware.
I wouldn't be surprised if that game also has the resolution slightly off too.
Once again had to wait on AMD to save the day with workaround hotfixes. Except this time they couldn't solve every problem. Luckily it seems Square Enix eventually, at least a year later, fixed the issue in WoFF.
...Meanwhile it's been 2 years since NieR:Automata released and we haven't seen a single bugfix.
Then of course the PC version of FF15 has massive memory leak issues, one of which is tied to using summons, and gets worse the more you do it. It's even capable of compounding it's self through saves, eventually breaking your saves.
It sold amazingly above expectations according to Square Enix. They were GLOATING about how well it sold.
Meanwhile Squeenix couldn't lift a single penny to fix the PC version.
Same boat here, I guess anyone who previously bought the Nier Automata Standard Edition and DLC got the short end of the straw.
This change to GOTY on the store page won't unlock all the Day One Edition extras + wallpaper on top of the exclusive grimoire weiss for previous Standard Edition + DLC owners.
It's not that they had any obligation to, but it would have been nice, given all the troubles that this PC release had.
Not to sound overly cynical, but that's probably why. It already sold and will continue to sell (because beneath all the jank and horrible port issues, there's a very solid game that has made a HUGE name for itself in the past year or so) regardless of these issues, and despite having them, the reviews are still "Very Positive," so why bother putting people on the job when they could have those same people working on newer titles?
Don't get me wrong, I love Automata and I had relatively few issues when I played it, but there is zero reason for a greedy corporation like Square to go and fix something that, other than for moral reasons, doesn't require their attention because the voices crying for fixes aren't particularly loud.
I've been waiting for the GotY edition to come out for a while, but I decided to say ♥♥♥♥ it and bought it on my PS4. Less jank and whatever issues that still exist are issues that I barely notice on my TV across the room compared to me playing on my 144hz monitor ~1 - 2 feet in front of my face.
Mine and Tobycars posts only mention a previously bought Std.Ed.+ DLC, not a DLC bought after 26/02/19.
If it's different for costumers that already had Std. Ed. or Day One Ed. (missing DLC) and buy the DLC now, after GOTY arrived in the main page, we'll have to wait on feedback (unless I've missed it on this thread). But TBH, it seems unlikely.
So the moral here is don't buy Squeenix games on PC.
Also.. paying the full price again to get the extras is a robbery.. i already own the game and dlc and there is no upgrade pack neither receive it for free..
Good job square enix.
I won't buy any more of their games with that attitude
I don't really care much about the wallpapers but SE should like have included it as an free update to the original Nierautomata game owners that is with or without the dlc or like add them as free dlc downloads on their store page.
- 2 years of waiting for patch which could fix a resolution ans fps issues
- now, we got goty, but not really...
Damn you SE
