Life after Nier
HI all! So as it goes life seems a lil empty now that i've finished Nier a third time and i'm now wondering if there is any new content in a fourth playthrough? So when I finished it mentioned about chapter select and a debug mode however, I began a new game+ and now i'm basically stuck doing the whole prolouge again. I quit once I was able to control 2b's character cuz I thought i'm wasting my time trying to just get to the first save point. Now I've found that the option for chapter select is missing. All i can do is continue. Do i need to at least reach the first save point in order for the chapter select to re appear at the main menu and if i do endure, will there be any new side quests available? The two that i never bothered to complete were the trials of sand and colosseum mode. Thanks in advance

Did you specifically selected new game or continue on the new ge you are playing?
What were you when you start at the prologue?
Did you overwrote your old save file with chapter select?

Yes I selected continue and overid my 3rd play file to begin a new. I was lever 65 after A2 and now back to 2B at the beginning but still at level 65. I never got the chance to use chapter select..

Did you see ending C or D?
If so, did you load the file on which Ending C or D were saved on?

On the title screen select Continue(not new game), load that save, and you'll be brought to this screen https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2005960221

You can choose chapter select through this menu. You can redo stuff that you missed. After you tie all loose ends, redo the final battle by choosing the other character.

NIce! So i'm guessing ending D is finishing the game with 9S? So it does sound like i need to get to the first save to bring this option back up. Appreciate the feed back

Yes and no. Choosing 9S will trigger ending D, but that is not the final ending yet. After that, you'll unlock the real final battle then see ending E, which is the true ending. However, I do advise that you take care of all your unfinished business before that. Like the Colosseum challenges and some side quests if you really had to.

In my opinion, ending E should really be the last thing you do in the game.

Interesting and just another thing, is there some sort of free roam so i can focus on sidequests or just start that by choosing a chapter?

The chapter select screen tells you how many side quest are there in the chapter and how many of those you have completed.

It is not completely free roam. You can only access portions of the map that is unlocked during that chapter. For example, if you choose a chapter with 2B as a character, you won't have access to the tower. If you choose a chapter before the Goliath battle in the city ruins, you won't have access to the flooded city and forest kingdom.

You can access chapter select from the main menu>continue>select save slot 1/2/3>chapter select

To clarify, you're aware selecting chapter 17-9 allows you to replay from the moment necessary, right?

I'm just reading it that you feel like you need to go back through more than you do in order to get the two final endings.

Play original Nier on a PS2 emulator? Fantastic game even if the gameplay is somewhat clunky. The story and of course the stellar soundtrack still holds up.
