6 years to be specific. Pearl Harbor Descent, A2's first deployment, was in 11939. The game is 11945.

As for A2 being called A2 it's because she has a different designation method. 2B is short for YoRHa Model Number 2 Type B. A2 is short for YoRHa Attack Number 2. Older YoRHa units are "Role" then "Model Number" while newer units are "Model Number" then "Type".

Mmmmh, weird, the Wiki says that Pearl Harbor Descent takes place on December 8th of 11.941, while the 243rd Descent Operation (the beginning of the game) takes place on March 10th of 11.945...not that it changes anything for the nomenclature, to be fair.

Yep, even the timeline from the Automata's Strategy Guide says 11941. Which makes sense, since it pretty much mirrors the date of the real Pearl Harbor :P
