Nier Automata Save issues

Many people have been having issues with saving on PC. I recently stopped playing the game for a couple of months due to the save issue and then I stumbled upon a post which was a little irrelevant to my issue but the fix was the same as to fixing mine. So I am creating this post to have an updated post regarding save issues in hopes others just jumping into the game are able to readily fix it.

The problem: On and off again issues with saving or overwriting save files. Yes I have been using quick save and manual save to no avail.

The Fix: Turning off steam cloud synchronization in the game's properties.

Why it's been on and off again: I've been trying to fix an issue in another game which a few of the solutions have had various steps involved with turning the steam cloud sync on and off in various manners and situations.

I hope this helps others enjoy the game as it is fun with a good storyline. If others have more save solutions that they want to describe and list the solutions here please do.

Edit: I should clarify. Turning off steam cloud synchronization occurs outside of the game. Right click on the game title in the steam library.

had no save issues at all... i'm in my kinda 2nd run now, playing 9S instead of 2B.
what might be confusing bout the game,
there is a difference between save n quicksave, a kinda huge one.

only saving ( at the black cigarette machines or in "system" > "save" ) are real saves that carry over

quick saves ( boss phases, orange cigarette machines, "map" > "quicksave" ) only exist during your current season. n get deleted when closin the game

thats not a bug or sth its a feature. elsewise one might be stuck in an unwinable boss fight forever or forced to lose all his chips. cause he couldnt pickup his corpse

Thanks for highlighting these differences. I want to make it clear that I was experiencing an inability to save period when I had steam cloud sync enabled. Even when reinstalling the game on a clean drive, a fresh game with no save file would not save (when at the appropriate point to be able to make the first save). This is a bug and not game design. Take care now.

I had this issue as well. I found that windows defender was not allowing the game to save. I had to add the game app as an allowed folder in windows defender and then it would save.

Hello everyone if anyone have the problem save in Nier i fix and is very simple

The method is as follows



go to C/user and click right in Documents then properties then location look the location

the normal is

C:\Users\you user\Documents

if you say onedriver with him this a big problem
like

C:\Users\you user\onedriver/Documents

this is will by destroy all new save game the fix is simple

and try check the desktop folder if have same change him before you have many problem with Desktop
