As for camera settings, put the camera further back in combat so you can see more, and tweak the lock-on tracking and camera follow/reset speed until you don't need to use the stick much in combat, as you want to keep your finger on that jump and dodge.
I would personally like to swap things around on the D-Pad more but the game really doesn't like that. Use item for example has to be down or you can't change the item. Even with this, you toggle the flashlight every time you talk to people and press up.
