Check the wiki for all the information about items needed for crafting
https://nierautomata.wiki.fextralife.com/Crafting
Resources that I need are needed for upgrade:
Copper ore 99/5 (OK)
Stretched coil 1/3 (missing 2)
Pyrite 17/5 (OK)
These resources are apparently required for all weapons right now, no matter which weapon I select the resource count is the same.
These are the weapons for instance:
Beastbane (lvl 1) 2500g - cant upgrade
Ancient overlord (lvl 1) 2500g - cant upgrade
Viruous contract (lvl 2) 5000g - can upgrade
Seems like the UI Is not always updating on a specific weapon, Sometimes it shows different resources.
Also, from nastier enemies.
In your case you only need the 2 coils, all rest is ok.
Finally you aren´t meant to upgrade weapons ASAP, but instead choosing one or two and focus on them. I like spears and gauntlets.
Ancient Overload requires a different set of mats: rusted clump, broken circuit, warped wire.

If you can upgrade Virtuous Contract from level 2 to 3 means you have numbers for titanium alloy, dented plate, severed cable, and amber.

Perhaps your UI is wrongfully demanding the same set of mats regardless of weapon. I suggest you refer to the wiki to work out what exact mats to obtain.
I think I know which dilemma you're talking about. I assume you're using keyboard/mouse too?
If you cycle through list of upgrades using either arrow keys (or mouse scroll) instead of moving around your mouse it should display correctly.
