wait, I think i've seen your ugly mug before forcing your own interpretaions on other games that the the dumb ass jurnos of PCgamer or Kotaku ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and moaned about in the same way.
i mean you kinda sound like... https://twitter.com/weeabob/status/943620428597043202 well this.
I have played the game and I'm saying that finding the game boring is the fault of the player, not the game. That is why I used the word "seems" because "boring" is subjective. In fact I would argue that "boring" doesn't even actually exist and it's all in the player's mind.
Telling me to play on a higher difficulty actually proves the point that I'm making, that it is up to the player to learn how to appreciate a game. Any game.
ah i see. my misunderstanding. I just see this game get a lot of crap because of strange people with political motivations or are creeped out from the female character being dressed the way she is out of some moral postulating.
i may disagree that some games are SO poorly made that they can be objectively bad but that's a totally different discussion.
i just saw some excessivly fluffy language and though you were trying to spin a yarn instead of be frank... or defend the OP's poor reasoning. i mean they don't have to like it but the reasons they give are weaker than talcum powder and just straight up dismissal dressed as intellectualism.
and i'm not a fan of that as i've made clear by my over reaction.
I'm uh...I'm going to resurect this because, being bored one night (tonight, natch) I decided to retry NA again. Needed something to read while it was installing, and I come across this gem of a post. Hey, uhm...you're right, you're not a hypocrite. You're just an unreasoning practitioner of herd mentality, i.e weak-willed and slow-witted. Let me just quote this little buit of yours: "What I *wouldn't* do, if I didn't find myself enjoying a game, is go onto a forum populated with fans of that game and tell them how boring and uninteresting I found it, and then act shocked and offended when people start getting annoyed with me".
Oh no? You wouldn't express your opinion, or seek out the input and opinions of others unless you all shared a common opinion? So if you liked a certain movie fanatically, but you reaaaaally hated one of the principle actors...you'd let that keep you from joining a forum or reddit discussion for that movie unless everyone else felt the same way?
Weakling...
The OP's "poor reasoning"? What kind of dimwit doesn't unerstand that a personal opinion is completely immune to successful challenge unless said opinion is about a verifiable, objective fact?
(..or, if that makes your itty bitty noggin' throb...a personal opinion is based on SUBjective factors, i.e. I will probably like a game that features things I like- if they're done well. You can't disprove any of my claims because they are all SUBjective; it would be like tring to prove I'm wrong when I say it's too cold. How the ♥♥♥♥ would you know if it's too cold for me? By the same token, how the ♥♥♥♥ would you know if NA's combat and story are boring to me Do you know how many games I've played? How many movies I've seen, how many books or short stories I've read? Maybe Nier Automata looks so spectacular to you because you haven't been exposed to more mature ideas and views of the world, or played any games with better combat?
Oatmeal with maple syrup, brown sugar, cinnamon and candied pecans sure tastes good when you've been eating Cream of Wheat your whole life, but it's still just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ oatmeal.
You're right, you're finding it boring, and no-one can argue about that. Still, were you forced to imply that it is because you're better? Can't people appreciate things for different reasons? I mean, when someone says "this is just middle-school philosophy", I can't help to tell myself "maybe, but I sure would have loved to go to such a middle-school". Or when you say "this is generic hack and slash gameplay"...ok, maybe, do you have others hack and slash to recommend? Why would you recommend them, what are they doing differently?
Share your experiences and references instead of just sitting on them. You have interesting things to say? Don't just say they're interesting, tell us about them!
Oh yes, you're such a strong-willed hero for coming onto a game forum (a game you haven't completed) to whine and complain about how it's boring and uninteresting, getting ultra defensive at people who don't agree with you.
Forget Martin Luther King. *You're* the real deal.
No, if I wasn't enjoying a game, I wouldn't feel the need to run in the middle of a crowd full of people who did and announce to them that the game that they all enjoyed was boring and uninteresting. And then act surprised when these people -- who have all beaten the game and know what they're talking about, compared to me, who hasn't and doesn't -- start getting annoyed, listening in confusion as I start boasting loudly and repeatedly about how I've put 400 hours in Skyrim and 200 hours in Darkest Dungeon, which, of course, makes me an expert in game design and storytelling.
But maybe I'm just not a powerful enough keyboard warrior to brave such a task -- to dare go where only the other 287 IQ reddit users, like yourself, would go.
Or maybe it's because I'm not an obnoxious, self-important, pretentious jerk who suffers from the Dunning Kruger Effect.
dont' be like kotaku writers.
