while we dont see characters like 2B and 9S kiss, there are very strong indicators that 2B and 9S do in fact romantically love each other. Trust me, I would've loved to see 2B and 9S kiss or hug each other in game but that just cant happen in game due to the tragic relationship that they were stuck in for so long :(

I do too. Even if the game didnt ship them, I certainly would lol. How their relationship is portrayed in game and in the novels for the game is that of a tragic romance, akin to shakespear's romeo and juliet in alot of ways. Its the fact that 2B and 9S most likely love each other romantically but those feelings can never be shown or reciprocated between the characters because they are trapped in a war with the machines and they are locked in a very tragic situation together. I wont spoil it for u, but u really should play the game sometime :)

Use your imagination, also there is more than one character that has a lover in the game (6O gets rejected, there is the wandering couple, Adam embracing Eve etc etc)

In the end however they are all machines/droids so anything sexual is... rather silly, to be honest.

Well the androids are just as in touch with their feelings as humans so I don't think it's silly if 2B and 9S love each other :(

On the contrary, it's interesting to ponder if sex and love are always connected, if one can be expressed without the other, and if so to what degree...And what is their relation to reproduction...or its absence, in the Nier : Automata setting.

When it comes to 9S and 2B, I feel they are connected by the tasks at hand. We can't deny that deep down, 2B has created feelings for 9S. Although I don't think they will be together. The feelings will always be there but the tasks at hand will permit them from truly falling for eachother. (Kinda hope they make a sequel :3)

Possibly even into the more romantic aspect of their relationship. 2B and 9S are naturally curious about human customs so I imagine a scenario where 2B realizes that she has developed feelings for 9S where none should exist, and would want to explore and try to figure out why that is. In the novels it was revealed that even she is confused and surprised as to why 9S enjoyed their time together and why he loves her. She was dumbstruck that 9S could love her after everything she did to him. She felt immense guilt and pain over the revelation that 9S knew what her real mission was the whole time and that he stuck with her the entire time, and even enjoyed her company.

supposedly hes already working on a "nier related project" based on a job listing that he and square enix put out and the positions that hes hiring for makes most of us believe it might be for an entirely new game in the series

Implying only bioware games can have romance... one of nier automata's themes is romance but the game doesn't focus on it. 2B and 9S most likely love each other in that way but the game doesn't force that idea down your throat and the 2Bx9S moments in game don't overstay their welcome. 2B and 9S are hella cute together and their moments are great together :)
