If it's still hard for ya, lower the difficulty and beat the boss. Afterwards raise it back up.
Just beat it, save has 2 hours 12 minutes. I was beating the first part without getting hit, and yes now I see the boss was very easy, but at first I was confused as to how to dodge the first phase of swipe attacks. What would happen is they would pin me against one side or another and the auto-heal wouldn't have enough time to go off. Once I figured out I needed to manually heal from the menu, I beat it without trouble. Anyone getting owned on the first boss, or someone who has never played before, I suggest informing them that they should auto-heal and stay at full health on the first boss at all times, which may save them a lot of frustration. I suspect that the game becomes much more forgiving on the save point intervals after that first section.
**SPOILER ALERT OVER**
1- Hard is called Hard for a reason. If you aren´t good enough play on normal. There is NO extra content or achievements for Hard anyway. And don´t come with crap like "I play Dark Souls I´m so PRO blah blah blah"
2- You shouldn´t expect to beat Hard on the first playthrough of ANY game. If that game allows it, it´s because its difficulty definition is BS.
