Less sexulised outfit for 2B?

I dont mind nudity and I hate censorship but it is a bit awkward when your mates and family see you playing a game where the main character is in heels, thigh highs and her boobs and bubble but are hanging out.

It gets pretty old explaining 'Yea well it's a Japanese game they are all like that, it is actually pretty good though'.

Come on Japan join us in 2017. Nudity is cool when you are 16 but I actually am more interested in the gameplay and story, and I do not think 2B's ♥♥♥♥♥ is a massive plot device.

As far as I can tell there is no way to change outfit. Can anyone reccomend a mod that will give her something warmer to wear?

I'm not saying im offended or triggered, im saying it is just a bit silly. It's like Gerald of Rivia going around topless or Mario in swimming trunks: Yea they would still be cool characters, but you would still get people rolling eyes at them.

shes only oversexualized if you are triggered by high heels and skirts dude, thats our point. Is she sexy? yes. Could they have used a different outfit? sure. but the bottom line is that the game doesn't focus on her sexual design. The only people this bothers are those easily offended by good looking characters. So OP, what does that say about yourself? Out of all of the things that this game truly does wrong, why the fu ck are you focusing on how a character dresses? You could point out the bad difficulty/level scaling in the game, somewhat simplistic (compared to MGR and bayonetta) combat system, repetitive hacking in route B, and probably a few others Im missing. Out of all of those things, you choose to go for the "character is dressed scantily" cliche. Come on dude, seriously?

you hang out with the wrong people then because I have literally never heard anyone say that. Not sure where this idea of "normal people will not take the game seriously" comes from, but I wish it would just fu ck off somewhere. I remember this being an issue when I was in like middle or high school or something. That it was somehow "cool" to make fun of people who watch anime or whatever. Surround yourself with people that can appreciate the fine storytelling and excellent character development that exists not only in this game, but other sources of media as well. If you hang out with people that honestly think that way, and you like the game and its characters, then maybe you shouldn't be hanging out with them or maybe they should just look past it and move on.

I think it's important to the story that they aren't wearing something practical. The fact that she seems to dress sexy in a setting where there is no sex really I think supports the themes.

Also there's a DLC with a nice alternative outfit for another playable character (not easy to unlock tho).

Yoko Taro loves to mess with people's expectations, and 2B's dress is no exception. Actually, he toned it down a little for Nier Automata, check out the character Kainé, in the first Nier, it's a very well-written character with a very deceptive sexualizing outfit...and when I say deceptive, it's very deceptive...

As for 2B's outfit, I just want to point out that it's much more thought-out than just "hey, let's make her sexy", it also hints at her nature as an android, a doll made by humans, towards which they project their fantasies, in-game but also in the real world. But if it's the more obvious meaning, it's not the only one, the color black, the feathers, the veil, all these elements are just dripping symbolism. And her animations are also inhumanly graceful, it just enforces the idea that she's a display, a clearly unrealistic character. I see a lot of similarities with Motoko Kusanagi of Ghost in the Shell, another clearly oversexualized character but with a message behind, or even Quiet in MGSV at a lesser degree.

That being said, I feel it's better integrated in Nier Automata since it's not just one character among the rest. You'll see as you progress further into the game, but only specific characters have a "sexy" look, and it's not at random, it has a meaning.
