Updates are coming
Finally got a reply from Square Enix support and updates are being worked on. I don't know why some people think it's Square Enix who are supposed to be working on patches - they're only the publisher and deal with marketing etc. Here's the reply I got:

As far as we are aware the development team for the game is still actively working on it and looking to release updates. However, we unfortunately do not have any specific release date or period as to when an update for the game will be available.

We thank you for your interest in the game, and we apologise for any frustration the lack of communication is causing.

Kind regards,

The Square Enix Support Centre team

I got couple replies as well. One said that they have no details on any update and check their web site. And an other asking me for more info regarding my issues. So, yeah...

Well it's Square Enix that has to shell out the extra payment for platinum to make a patch in the first place. They ain't working for free afterall and if Square Enix doesn't give any additional funds for further development there won't be any patches. So yes it pretty much is Square's job to make even possible in the first place.

Extra payment for what? for fixing the game? So I sell to you a broken car and I demand more money if you want a car that works? What the flying cuck!

PLATINUM AND SQUARE ENIX are both equally to blame for this. It's mamazing how people bought bayonetta after this, a shame.

Well, that's great news, considering what they say is accurate of course.
My guess is the update will be released either just before/with the DLC, or just before/with the SEA release (if it ever happens)

You seem to be confused about how the game industry works. Also, Bayonetta has Sega as publisher, not Squeenix. Big difference overall.

Platinum did their best with the (pretty limited) budget and (especially very short) time they had to develop this game (considering a multiplateform release as well), remember that when you are working with a big publisher, you really have a gun pointed at your head, you really can't do what you want, it's a miracle considering all this that we had (at least on the PS4 pro) such a quality game with so many great things in it (minus the engine).

Can anyone with the PS4 Pro version confirm if the game stutters/hitches in the same way/as much as it does on PC? I can't seem to find any reliable videos. The regular PS4 version performs poorly so was just wondering if the Pro version was on par with the PC.

You seem to not really understand how all this works.
The publisher (here Square Enix who own the IP) pay the Dev team (Platinum Games) to develop the game.
Then as the game sells, the publisher get most of the money from that and the dev team gets a little cut depending on the contract (usually not that much).
If the Publisher wants to get more work on the game (to patch it, or make DLC) it's up to them to pay the dev team to do it, as they need a salary to work.

Because they are the one who got the rights of the game, it's up to Square Enix to make the call if there need to be a patch or not.

I did a full playthrough on PS4 Pro first, it hitches alot more on PS4, and the most recent patch made it a little worse.

You can brute force through the PC's stuttering almost completely if your specs are high enough and run the game off an SSD.

I get a split second drop to 59 or 58 on PC when entering a new area on a 980ti and i7-4790K, on PS4 Pro it can drop to the 40s and stay there for a while before recovering.

Yeah, the PS4 version is just awful. Frame drops, frame pacing issues, stutter/hitching, lower quality graphics/shadows...

If the PS4 Pro does that it sounds like the PC version is the lesser evil then. My system is plenty high enough with a GTX 1080, an i7 4790K, and running off an SSD. The loading hitches I can just about put up with but it has occasionally done it during fights as well. One area that comes to mind is where you first encounter those worms in that crater.

Thank you for the explanation, BUT if Platinum didn't have the time to make a flawless game they should have said that they couldn't do it, not grab the money and deliver a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ product.

My boss can give me a job and if I know I can't do it I will ask for more time or not accept the job. Maybe Platinum said: Ok, but the product will be ♥♥♥♥ on ps4 and PC, and Squenix said: Ok I am fine with that. Anyway, both have little respect for the users whatever the situation was.

You seriously have no idea how modern game development works.

It's true that SE is not responsible for development, but as publishers they should be in touch with dev team and make sure that these lazy bastards doing their job properly. I think it's pretty stupid situation, when a month has passed from release and game experience heavy bugs and even not playable on some officially recommended hardware (like RX 480, and please don't tell me to roll back my drivers)and there are almost no official comments from PG, and total lack of communication between customers and devs. WTF? We payed money for this game, but they at least can't make it playable on officially recommended hardware, not saying about other bugs, like resolution problems and even didn't dropped a word when they are going to fix their mess. And what is pissing me off more, is that jerks are anouncing stupid costume DLC instead of announcment of the patch.

Publisher told them to focus on dlc instead of patching. Not like it's the first time. Look at Arkham Origins and Arkham Knight.
