How are the replicants made?
Never played the first Nier and was wondering about the replicants. Is it ever explained how they are made? The best I could get from my quick research was that they are "artificial bodies" created using the "data from the gestalt". Not very informative.

So how are they made? Are they grown in a lab somewhere? Built? Created by magic?

How was their intelligence implemented? I know the entire game is about the replicants gaining self awareness, but what were they like before that started to happen? It's clear that society has regressed a great deal since the replicants took over. Is it correct to assume that this is becuase they lacked the intelligence to live in a more advanced society?

Are they immortal? It seems like they are since replicant Nier is 1000 years old by the end of the first game, but are they intended to remain immortal after the human souls are reunited with the replicant bodies? If they are indeed immortal and immune to the white chlorination syndrome, why didn't the gestalts merge with the replicants right away?

Am I thinking way too far into this?

I can give you links to clemps video series about drakengard and nier.
But i myself never have heard any answer to any of your questions.

To be perfectly honest i'm in the same boat as you are, but if there were explainations we should have heard about them after 7 years since the original NieR.

I think of them quite in the same way as shells in the GitS series as in "cyborg" bodies.
But i do not know if this is the case. The shades are also similar to ghosts form GiTS as in the souls of humans, so again i like to think of the concepts in both universes as quite similar and i like it.

But then what seperates Replicants from androids in this case. If in all form of apperance they are prettymuch the same.

The shades that were ment for the replicants.
They are human souls. In aotomata the androids strife for humans but have nothing of humens directly put into them.
If you have finished the game you might wanna take a look at this thread here.

As i discussed and got an aswer to how magic is existing in the nier universe, which is quite a big part of your question as well.
