Pods are cool and are the real heros in this game. I love the threeway hammer smash.
Weapons... variety.. we all love variety. Only suckers need to always use the best of the best (which is the crit blade btw).
Graphics.. joko taro .. nuff said. Only pc graphic ♥♥♥♥♥♥ complain about something minor than pretty bling bling graphics.. ubisoft did a good job hammering that mindset in a lot of kids.
Yeah, I don't know what he's complaining about, the game is gorgeous
the music is in most cases awful for a video game, with loud as hell vocals, which is typically crap for background music.
the combat is SOMETIMES fun, like when it's in third person and there's one enemy. the rest of the time is just mash light attack and stun lock the enemies. the aerial combat is a joke, just spam the sword and move towards the enemies and you'll clear everything taking no damage 90% of the time, and the side scrolling bits just take the "spam light attack and stun lock" to an absolutely absurd level.
as for the story, i've only got about half way through 9S story, and simply can't play anymore because it's the same exact crap as the first play through, and so far has been a cliched as hell story of what it means to be "alive", and from what i've heard, that's basically how it continues, and it's not even remotely subtle about it either. somehow people praise that for being an "amazing" "philosophical" story, which i suppose is true if you're six, which would explain it's lack of subtlety.
all in all, the game comes off as a poorly done attempt to tell a "philosophical" story, with poor choices for game music, very poorly directed graphics that look half finished, and "game mechanics" that were haphazardly thrown in to give the game "variety". and to the dozens of you about to type "it gets better later on"; if the game can't keep people interested up to the "good" parts, then it's a poorly designed game. out of ten, i would give it a five, maybe a six if they fixed the crappy graphics so it actually looked finished.
Wow.....If the game was genuinely ♥♥♥♥ as these people claim then I wouldn't be playing it so I guess we're playing two different games. This is about Nier; Automata, right? Did you guys happen to purchase the game from some cheap rural Chinese store somewhere? What you guys are claiming for how the is horrid just doesn't add up. It doesn't make sense. This is not about being a 'fanboi' or anything, just that....you guys are either trying too hard or too lazy. It's either one or the other.
So much salt that I'm now laughing....... I'm finding it adorable how I found out i could pet my POD gaining interesting responses from it by circling the mouse curser in circle. Such a lovely small feature & moment adding to the whole experience. I love that <3
"Report: Pleasant"
So while I agree some of these negative posts may be too harsh, I also understand, or attempt to, that these people are bitter because they cared, and now are looking for a way to vent their frustration. Believe me, I've been in that position as well.
Yup, that's true that people are free to voice their opinion. No denying that. That's how it should be, yet it's such an easy thing to abuse where you then say there are some posts put out like traps to trigger people to be baited for the 'lulz'.
And yeah, I understand the whole frustration thing that when I saw $80 CAD I didn't jump onto buying the game when food versus games ends up being a thing. That's just stupid when the economy keeps degrading in places that you can't really part with it easily. Thankfully, Nier: Automata is one of those games that it's actually worthy, yet not so with other games that bites you hard for just being 'hype-ware' or 'abandonware' type games. Are they really worth the $80? Doubt that. Again, thankfully Nier is a Japnaese game with high passion behind it that it's justified by being a high quality fun game. Mostly fun times to be had, yet others claim otherwise, and that's their justified claim. I can't really deny that, even if I question it seriously.
This is also why people should do their research instead of coming off as "too salty", "bitter", or whichever they came off as. I knew what I was getting myself into that I felt rewarded through-and-through for the old timy arcade games made modern, the music being grand, scenery being beautiful, the characters being fun, petting the POD, among other things.
I just can't agree with people's odd claims that the graphics is horrible in any way or the art. Also, granted that milage & enjoyment differ from one user to the next that it's as you say. Each to their own, and free place to post whatever opinion you have. Just that it baffles me greatly how people can post that something sucks when it's more in the positive zone.
As someone said that I should just let them rant while stop allowing myself to be baited in.
I could tolerate it if the rest of the game made sense! Which it doesn't!
Why the ♥♥♥♥ would ROBOTS use swords? Why not, you know guns - like every sane person would if they wanted to fight, especially a supposedly superior enemy (a gun is a bigger force multiplier than a sword ever could be simply because a gun is way more effective and because it's easier to learn to shoot half way decently than to use a sword...sure this doesn't apply to robots who are programmed and don't really have to learn, but still: WHY SWORDS?)
Think it was made to appease all the anime soft core porn lovers..

People have different tastes. Obviously this didn't suit yours. Too bad. Get over it. For a lot of other people, the game is awesome and is a blast to play.
I personally love stories that deal in nihilism, because I'm not a baby who constanstly needs movies/games to tell me "everything is going to be okay" and "there's always some greater meaning to life."
But, you know, different strokes and all.
