Also my own association with 2b's looks is more than just "oh wow nice ass bruh, fap". The way her dress is made gives you the occasional peek at her behind, even if the player didn't intend to. I think it's a daring design. Sort of similar to Bayonetta, who was more sexy in a funny betty boop kind of way than actual sexy, but 2b is instead a bit more on the cool side.

What I think makes the design work is 2b's general behaviour and attitude. She's a strong person who's in control, perhaps knows well about her own emotions but is not very comfortable showing them, using "emotions are prohibited" as an excuse. She generally takes charge. If you look up her skirt she slaps it away, which she does in a "piss off" kind of way, and not the timid kind of way you'd generally see girls do it. I think she's the most progressive female character design we've seen in games yet, just because it shows that no matter how daring or "sexualized" the character design is, she's not just there for looks.

I don't get what's wrong with a sexualized design anyway if the game isn't meant for kids playing it. People everywhere like to dress sexy, they need to be shunned and locked away or something? Who are the bad rolemodels in that story. The people who like being sexy or the tyrants that force their way on others?

In general I agree with your opinions but since I know rarely any female gamers I was interested in how they see it. If a woman says I have a sexy ass and they wanted to chew a big piece out of it I take it as a compliment and will be proud of it for the whole day. On the other hand I have the feeling that the female emancipation movement was mainly led by ugly women who wanted to spoil the joy of physical sex(iness) for other women because they are kind of frustrated or frigid.

I've never met a female gamer who had a problem with sexy designs.

Even then, most my friends seem to actually like 2B's design, since its much classier than most. Her chest is also of a reasonable size. She's a strong female character that also isn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥ or screamy.

That being said, my mom, who is very much not a gamer but is usually quick to give negative critique on female game chars, actually likes 2B's design.

I play Tera online, and there are lots of women in my guild on vent, that game has bouncing tiddies and ass in your face 24/7.

You will find loli characters with a hilariously over the top sexual names dressed in only skimpy underwear running around only to find out that its being played by girl. Seems most women playing games just don't wanna be harassed and thats pretty much it.

Most of the women in my guild play Elins because they find them cute, then there are many who play castanics and high elves because they like how sexy they are.

I knew a few who were exactly as I described and when we ended up in guild discord chat, sometimes it ended up being a girl playing the character. I'm not sure if you misunderstood what I was saying or something. I was pretty much just pointing out that most female gamers I've encountered don't seem to mind sexy or even slutty looking characters and the only thing that really bothers them is being harassed which is more likely to happen in an fps or something.

Yeah right, just change your name to something clearly feminine in an MMO and see the harrasment incoming.

I usually go by Rin and play a female character so I'm fairly aware of how it goes. Tera is a weird game though, there oddly isn't much harassment despite the fact that the game itself is entirely unregulated and extremely sexualized from a design perspective (heavy armor, lol). Yet that game has a ton of girls playing it which I suppose is what leads to generally not much harassment, just sort of weird overall. See xenoblade have the swimsuit changed for its younger character to avoid controversy, hop on tera and see a dozen almost naked elins with sex joke names saying "will erp for food" or something. Its a strange place. I kinda miss it. Too bad the game design itself is lazy as ♥♥♥♥ and they just keep recycling the same bosses they designed years ago with a new coat of paint.

The most hilarious game to play with a female character though was MHtri. You could tell it was most peoples first online game and they just kinda assumed female character = female player which made everyone helpful and friendly. Made a new character that was male to see the other half of the armor looks and everyone suddenly becomes a selfish ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Was pretty great.
