Forest King Castle - Can't rech the ledge!

SO i'm about to rage quit. I'm in the Forest King's castle, side scrolling. First room is a single enemy. Second are a bunch of little machines spilling out the right door. Third room has a broken floor, a chest on the right ledge, and a door on the bottom level leading back into the lower half of the second room.

Now, I can SEE that there's a ledge over the gap that I should be able to grab to haul myself up to the next floor. Except when 2B jumps it's like she's hitting an invisible wall. 9S keeps getting in the way and his sass is so not worth the aggravation of having him in the way.

I've tried a dasg and double jump. I've tried standing still and double jumping, I've tried walking and double jumping, at an angle even! But no dice. I'm still stuck here losing my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mind.

Can someone please help me before I throw my beast of a laptop out the window?

As I recall, most of those areas are more easily accessible from deeper in the area. It goes further right, then up, then back left again. Crafty use of dropping from a high height, combined with dashing and hovering, should get you there.

To reach the upper ledges on the first building, you have to reach the top of the second building, then run back to the top of the first building, pretty much following the quest path. Once you reach the near end, where there's a machine that lets you save, go back a little bit and drop through the hole in the bridge, making sure you don't drop too deep because there's like two broken bridges. In one of them, you can get to a vendor behind a big box you can pull back. Below that (the lower broken bridge) you can access the three robots and chest you could see near the beginning but couldn't access from there.

Actually there is a much easier way. Stand on the right edge of the first building on the ledge with the treasure chest just below the ledge you want to get onto. Do a jump rising attack (jump Y with the girls or jump X with 9S) and then jump again at the ledge. You will pull yourself up easily. You can even stand on the chest for added height if you want to. You can use this trick to get a lot of places you aren't supposed to be able to get (like jumping up the ledge by the lunar tear in the desert without going through the stupid tunnels or getting back to the terminal by royal chamber from masamune without dragging the box all the way over)

Thank you to both of you! I rage quit and after restarting everything I went back. I don't know what I did differently but I've had no problem getting up the ledge since.

On a side note, sometimes 2B will swing herself around in the air and then propell herself in one direction. How do you intentionally do that? I'm playing on PC and I have no idea if that's Evade or a skill chip or whatever.....

I think so yeah! I know I can glide after a dash or double jump but the move I'm thinking of is like she throws herself away.

Yea, then it's as I said.
Press the Fire & Jump button together very quickly.
If you are locked on to something it will throw you in the direction of that target.

Also you can hit light or heavy attack while gliding to do a directional pod kick move similar to the pod throw. You can cover a pretty staggering horizontal distance in this game.

I managed to find a tough jump if you wanna be super awesome and then I also show the easy jump although due to the camera, its kinda hard to actually see.

I'm definitely missing something though. I know I can double jump but you literally launch yourself upwards, how do you do that?!

I did that completely different. I jumped down from the bridge way above that location (where the weapon blacksmith is) and landed on that top left side ledge.

Use an attack as you are jumping. It does a rising attack. With the girls it has to be heavy attack (light will just do the light), with 9S light attack works. It FEELS like the fist weapons take the character slightly higher but thats probably not true.

First jump was jump then Y after a slight delay, jump, jump+pod fire at the exact apex of the jump. You really have to use Y at the last possible moment that still lets you do the rising attack. If you wait any longer than I did you will do the slam attack but if you do it earlier you won't get quite enough height for that jump. Took a few minutes practice to get it down reliably.

The second jump was just jump, Y, jump. Very simple. The Y has to be used during the early parts of the jump but the timing is not strict unless you NEED max height like the first jump. You can also stand on the opened chest giving you even more leeway.
