Have you equipped any of the hacking chips? Only thing I can think of, they make it quicker or have different effects.

I'm in a stupid dungeon and have to hack something and i always die. The chips make it possible to take enemys over

Oh wow I was going to take a screenshot of the chip I was talking about and I don't see it lol. I could have sworn there was one that like gave you more time or something like that but somehow I must have read it wrong, my bad.

If you play on easy the hacking minigame will nearly solve itself (auto evade and auto fire) in case you have problems with them.

Easy and auto-chips
Just some general tips, try hiding behind cover and just peeking out and also use streaming, a top down shooter technique where you move very slowly in one direction. All the shots are at you so as long as you move just fast enough to dodge them, they won't hit you. This allows you maximum time to shoot the enemies before getting boxed in by bullet patterns. Addionally, you often just fly around the room in a circle blasting everything. Always take out the spinning pillars ASAP since once you have it down to only aimed attacks it gets very easy.

yeah that box with the orange stuff all over the place was the worse. trying going on the upper side and stick to the wall

One trick that I found as well, in many cases if you fail the first hack and try again it's changed a little. Usually there is always an easier one after a try or two.

But I don't find them very hard so far, but hacking has been some of the trickiest "puzzles" so far that I've seen.

I haven't had problems until now - third playthrough, 9S route, the later minigames in one of those "recovery towers" called "soul box". I just had to give up and go back to a save point to at least save my success in that tower thus far. My fingers feel cramped too, maybe I just need a rest ..

If push comes to shove, can I switch difficulty to easy just for this part and then switch back to normal?
Yeah. Difficulty is completely meaningless in terms of completion anyway.

yes

The issue is that it requires a twin stick controller to pull it off effortlessly.

I use the Steam Controller and struggle with hacking because I lack a right stick and fine precision on the thumb pad it requires.

One of the great things about the Steam Controller is the ability to configure the controller to how I play. The downside are games that constantly changes control schemes on the fly.

Now I need to figure out how to change my controller configuration on the fly to match that of Automata RPG elements and twin-stick shooter elements.

Steam controller user here. On the default configuration, pressing L trigger makes you strafe. if pointing at nothing, you will strafe left and right. If you point at an enemy and press the trigger, you will strafe around the target. This is extremely useful and almost kills the need for an extra stick. When killing the enemy, the strafe mode ends and you need to activate it again on the next target. That's the only downside I see here.

A little cheat you can do on the Steam controller is to set your fire button to hold, so you press it once to fire continuously, then press again to stop firing.

I'm pretty sure you can do that pretty easily with the mode-shifting option

In case youre playing on PC with poor graphics card, it could be normally impossible like it was to me. if youre using FAR, check on your framerate, make sure it isnt limited and you achieve at least 60ish fps when idle in menu. difference between 30 fps limit and 60 ftps gave me not less than 30% of extra time in hacking games to compare. pretty obvious but just in case lower your graphics settings and resolutio to achieve higher fps. game difficulity nor auto chips seem to make no difference to hacking speed
