Machine Core

So I'm currently doing Route C for the second time, and I have a bunch of Machine Cores that I'm thinking about selling. But would it be worth to sell it in the end or best to save it? Can't really find any real answer as I was browsing random sites.

One said you can make an 'ultimate weapon' while someone else replies that they had every weapon upgraded to level 4 without needing them. So I'm just wondering if Machine Cores are really used for anything or meant to just sell at the vendor.

Everything that says "Can be exchanged for money" can be safely.. exchanged for money. In fact, cores are probably the best way to get G late game since they go for like 22k.

Ya but I heard they have a use at the end for something? Aaaand I just remembered I sold mine yesterday without thinking.

There is no other purpose to them besides making money, if some day someone actually finds an other hidden purpose than u can always farm more, on lvl 50+ they drop rather often...
Still theyr value increases if u progress in the story, in the 3rd playthrough they give u 22.5k G while at the beginning u only get 10k G, so maybe save them if u dont rly need the money instantly.

Isn't there an item that you need at the end though, I could have sworn someone was talking about saving a certain amount of a certain item for something to do with the story. If you know put it in spoiler tags for people who don't want the spoiler I guess.

Theres a quest to get 5 desert roses so its probably best not to sell those but even then, 5 more spawn for the quest anyway.

I've beaten the game with all endings. The machine cores are just a random drop worth a lot of money. Sell them all. If the game description for an item says you can sell it, then sell it.

There's one side quest where you need boar and deer meat which can otherwise be sold for money.

If what you read was something like "x item says you can sell it, but dont sell because you need it later" then yes it is wrong.
