[Spoilers] Help with understanding story

I'm still bit lost on subject of the human race and the Terminal AKA Network or N1 (used in the article from the link I posted).

One of the pages on the website mention that the humans were forced to take refuge on the moon. So my question on this is, was there really humans on the moon? Or was it replicants? And was YoRHa bunker created by humans?



Now regarding the Terminal that you encounter in the white tower had me confused.

"The second truth is that the war between the androids and machines has been going on for centuries because there is a system in place to make sure that the androids never get to destroy them completely. Near the end of every war cycle, a backdoor to the existing Bunker at the time will be open, allowing for some sort of virus or infection to seep in and wipe out all the YoRHa androids. This would prevent the androids from ever winning the war, and the next generation of YoRHa androids can be created to restart the cycle all over again. This information wasn’t made known to the commander either.

There's also another piece of information that tells how the Terminal was the mastermind behind the whole cycle of war. Now I can't wrap my head around on how they ended up to be the masterminds.

I also don't see the point in this here "If they (androids) can overcome more hardship and obstacles, N1 (Terminal) will become an even more powerful being through that conflict." What good would be more powerful when you're the one pulling the strings??

The only thing on the moon is the human genome. The entire "retreat to the moon" is a ruse. You got pranked hard.

By the time the aliens invaded Earth, humans were extinct. So the goth team were likely made by replicants or the likes.

Replicants also excinted after some time, so only sings of humanity which have left is legacy on moon and androids.

Androids are made to serve humanity, so without humans their morale and purpouse of existance would be gone, so there is a beacon which sends some messages to all of androids that we are still fighting.

It believes that by allowing the Androids to continue to fight, and to continue to think up new fighting methods, it will be forced to evolve and become greater than it is. But if the Androids are destroyed, it will never progress further than it already is.

It's destroyed when you allow it to divide itself too heavily, and part of it thinks it needs to become more, and the other part of it believes it's perfect already, and it tears itself apart over that internal conflict.

One of the themes, or major tragedies of the game, are that all the factions are reaching for something unreachable, and they all destroy themselves in the process. YoRHa tears itself apart fighting against machines their destined to lose to, and the machines fracture themselves in an attempt to emulate humans, but since none of them have a complete picture of what humans were, they end up only mirroring one aspect and conflicting with each other. Only Pascal get's anywhere close to emulating man, and all he get's for his trouble is more misery than anyone could ever handle.

I don't suppose you know when this system was created? Because that's the final thing I'm lost on.

I don't suppose you know when this system was created? Because that's the final thing I'm lost on.

It's 'The Network,' and it's just the combined processing power of all the machines. When it was first created, it was just told to 'Defeat the Enemy.' Once it had killed the aliens, it suffered a logic failure - It would cease to have a purpose if it completed it's purpose, and if it ceased to exist, it could no longer make sure it had defeated the enemy. So it intentionally handicapped itself, and fractured it's own network.

After a time, it recompiled all the robots still on the network and reassessed itself. Robots like Pascal, who had disconnected themselves, did not get reconnected. During this process, they absorbed a great deal of data, including some servers that had Gestalt data, including information on the original Nier. It reformatted itself, with the human data at it's core, as Network 2 (N2).

The Terminal is NOT responsible for the YoRHa project. It's just hijacked it for it's own purposes.
