How to activate the scanner?

I equipped the scanner but I don't know how to use it. Anyone know which keys to use?

You're playing on a keyboard? It should be the same key as what you would use to activate Hammer or Laser.

Menu => Skills => Pod programs => Eqip Scanner program on one of pods.
Put out this pod and hold Program action button.

L1 on pad. This one which you use to shoot laser. Just hold it longer.

...Have you never used laser or other stuff? They tell you in the tutorial.
You could look at the keyboard settings if you're totally lost.

In case you're actually playing with controller, it's L1.
