To answer the question you posted, do as the guy before me said, switch to easy mode until you get some more levels and fuse up some experience boosting chips to install to your character. I have one of my chipsets set up specifically for farming with exp and drop rate boosters. Also, make sure you have upgraded your weapons as much as you can at the weapon shops.
Edit: there is also a shop in the resistance camp that sells chipset slot boosters (can't remember the exact name but they increase the amount of slots you have for installing chips) that are a bit pricey but highly worth it. If you are low on funds, you can go fishing at pretty much any fishing spot to catch fish to sell for easy profit. 20-30 mins can eaisily (with decent luck) net you 50,000G
If you can play as 9S, then absolutely nothing at that point in the game should be unkillable, except for one enemy I'm pretty sure you don't know about, and wont attack you unless you do something specific. Just hack your way to whatever you want or where ever you need to go, should be able to 2 or 3 shot anything up to 15 levels above you.
Also, stack XP chips. Stack them until you can't stack them anymore.
I don't remember exactly which chapter he's referring to I guess. Do you? I'll go check and see if I can get some more constructive advice.
Oh.
That's a rough spot to be stuck in.
OP, there's two ways to get past this - First, drop to easy. I know, it doesn't feel great, but that's what happens when you manage to miss as much XP as you have (Seriously, how?).
Your second option isn't great either - It's cheese time. Switch all your chips to Health Regen and Ranged Attack+, put Pod-A/Laser on, tape the fire button down and dodge, baby, dodge. There's very few bosses that won't succumb to this tactic. It's a bit time consuming, but if you're in a tight spot...
Oh, and once you're past this, I'd switch all your chips to EXP+ and Drop Rate Up. You seriously need some more muscle.
Yah, it doesn't. Maybe 1-2 damage per shot. But what else are you going to equip? Defense chips are just as paltry at that point.
That tactic really does work, though. It's death by a thousand paper cuts and takes forever, but it'll do the trick. It even works on the final boss.
The actual final boss, that is. If you don't know what I mean, spoilers!
Ending Y. The 99 one.
Step 2: Auto-everything chips
Step 3: Desert Pit
Step 4: Leave overnight
Step 5: ????
