Jean-Paul Side quests [possible spoilers]
I just talked to the Machine In Love in the desert area and afterwards 9S asked 2B a question about him, and the subtitles read "Jean-Paul" but the in-game voices bleeped out "Jean-Paul". did 9S just curse or was that supposed to be a comedic moment? I mean I chuckled but it seemed weird to bleep out the name "Jean-Paul" but not censor it in the subtitles if it is a "bad word"

I made a thread about this yesterday. Apparently his name had to be changed in the the English version due to copyright issues, and instead of re-recording the voice line they just bleeped it out.
What 「SUPER EUROBEAT」said is correct. In the japanese version of the game he's called Satre (his full name being Jean-Paul Satre). The thing is that his estate, the Satre estate, will sue anyone and everyone for using the name Satre.
It looks like this was found out after voice recording was complete, in which they actually say Satre not Jean-Paul. So they just bleeped out the mention of his name and changed the text to say Jean-Paul.

Oh that's interesting, I caught that bleep too but didn't really think twice about it.
I just got to that part and it really caught me off guard. Good to know the reason and not have to spend countless sleepless nights thinking about why it was.
Ya I did it again the second playthrough because I didn't finish the quest first time around, and they bleep the entire name, Jean-Paul. Twice.

In the wiki his name is Sartre. I thought that was weird, but this explains it.

Aww poor Jean-Paul. He's just more interested in philosophy than companionship. He doesn't seem like an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

He's quite intentionally spurning all those other robots, and in Route B (Mid Game Spoilers Within) you find out he is directly responsible for one of the bosses, having ignored a robot until it started CANNIBALIZING other robots. I doubt he missed that bit.

Wait, that robot with the hat in that boss's flashbacks is suppose to be Jean-Paul/not-Satre? Wow, that's both kinda funny and very mean on reflection.
