Type 3 Lance: Can you get to its chest in any other way than jumping?
Hi,

mild spoilers for beyond first playthrough I guess?

I'm trying to get the Type-3 Lance from the Flooded City building and I've been practising the jump/spinning kick/dashing combo with 9S for a while and it's kind of hard for me, I'm finally clipping the wall but at sea level. Can't keep the height.

Is it worth continuing the effort or can I get there easier later with another character or using a pod program? Thanks

Are you also doing the Pod throw move?
I tend to get around great distances by:
Double Jump > Pod Throw(Shift + Space on KB default) > Dodge Forward > Hold Space to grab pod and then attack while holding the pod to do the spin kick thingy.
I'm not, I'll definitely give that a go next time I load up the game. I've seen mentions of it but didn't know how to proc it. That seems easier to pull off than what I'm doing! Thanks

Yeah, I don't think game ever tells you how to do that directly. I figured it out by accident.

Oh ♥♥♥♥ you can do the pod throw after a double jump? I did not actually know that. I didn't think to try either. I'm going to be having some fun with that when I finish work.

Yeah, you can pod throw after a double jump but not after a glide. So I save the glide kick to the end since at that point you use all your movement options up.
Jump, Jump, pod throw, light attacks, dash. Thats more than enough to get you there as 2B so its probably enough to get you there as 9S as well.

How do you throw the pod with gamepad? :o

On the Xbox 360 controller you press jump and the pod fire button at the same time so it'd be A+RB. At least that's how I do it.

You can hijack a floating drill snake-looking enemy to get there, if you absolutely positively can't get there by yourself.

A good long distance jump would be: launcher (jump, then heavy attack quickly, preferrably with a spear) -> dash -> second jump -> pod glide -> pod glide attack -> dash -> Mirage (pod program) -> dash, though I'm positive you can get there even without Mirage.

I got it by dashing into jump, dashing, jumping again, hovering, using the hover spin, then using small sword lights in air. That should get you close enough for a ledge pull.
You guys won't understand how much this means to me that I got so many different tips, thanks! Didn't realise there are so many mobility tricks, this should help a lot down the line with some of the other chests. I practised different combos for a while and the Mirage tip plus the pod throw and some dashing/a light attack finally worked (I love Mirage, never thought of using it for this though), I needed the extra leeway. Pod throw is very fun, didn't know you could do that. I will try the snake hijack at some point too out of curiosity.

I got the chests! Thanks everyone and hope you all have great days. :happy_creep:

Pod throw is also a homing attack if there is a nearby enemy targeted. So you can even use it for closing distance for the lulz. It is funny to see your character headbutt into a machine.

The weapon chest is not a hacking one. You do not have to be 9S to get the Lance. Just saying.
