Small gears don't drop is it a rare item?

Attemptimg to do the side quest for the merchant in the resistance camp,the first two quest item drop normally but the small gears just won't drop.I travel back to the bunker and kill the robot again for 5 times but it just won't drop.Does anyone have the same problem?

No need to travel back to bunker, just save at a nearby access point and reload the save to respawn the machines.
