how to pet the pod?

On PS4 you can rub the touch pad to pet the pod, I was wondering if anyone figured out how to do it on the steam version?

If using KBM, was able to pet the pod by circling my mouse around a couple times.

I thought I will just play it with my DualShock 4 controller... but it's not supported, wtf.

Putting these together, use InputMapper on your DS4. It'll map your touchpad to mouse movement by default, thus allowing you to pet it.
