Fullscreen bug?
Managed to balance the fps out abit more on my old GTX 770 and i7 4770k 16GB of ram 1600mhz, But I can't seem to get the game to take up my entire screen? I get these bigass black bars all around, as if i'm running on a low res, except i'm running it on full 1920x1080, Is this a bug do you reckon or a problem on my end? Very odd.

I think I fixed it for myself by hitting [Windowed] in the game and then pressing [Alt + Enter] on my keyboard.

Looks like 1080p fullscreen now. I too had a lower display resolution when I had it set as [Fullscreen] in the game.

I have tried that same thing many times, it doesn't work for me.

Yeah, ultimately, while I'm aware some of you don't like it, I just ended up using Kaldaein's FAR mod, the DS button prompts and ReShade.

I do not want to use third-party software to play the game for which I paid $ 60. Where is the patch?

Exactly! Within a few days a mod was out which fixed the issue. And they can't fix it for over a month now!? They simply don't care.

I fixed the aspect ratio/black bars problem pretty easily.

Ok for AMD open up your driver panel, and click the display tab on the bottom. Turn on GPU scaling and for scaling mode, select full panel (I think maintain aspect ratio should work as well). I don't know how to do this on nVidia but you can look for similar options.

Oh thank you!! I forgot about AMD's crimson software. This is a simple fix that does wonders for people who do not want to mod or edit .ini files like myself. :steamhappy::steamhappy::steamhappy:

Hi, I bought this game recently and hit this bug too. I have a laptop with a second screen on HDMI plug (and a third via a USB dock but it's irrelevant, the game can't see it).
I have this problem too even if I have an Nvidia graphic card (so not AMD).

I found some additional info by tweaking the graphic settings:
If I set the display to use the Nvidia GC with my Display 1, which is the screen of the laptop, the resolution seem fine. My setup (Windows10) is that when plugged, the HDMI screen is supposed to be the main window for Windows (aka apps and games start on this screen). Nier Automata decided that my principle screen is actually "Display 4" (with no display names between Display1 and Display4).

So maybe there is some kind of screen detection issue that leads to some kind of defaulting resolution issue. It's weird but not un-understandable.

Do you guys have multi-screen setups too?

I'm the same as you, i used laptop with external display. but i only have 1 external display and my laptop is closed all the time. is your external display LG by any chance? if so, i found a workaround. just project the screen with "duplicate" instead of "second-screen only". somehow the game ran just fine with it

Do Square Enix still attempt to fix this issue? I have a gtx 1060 and this dont scale right in Fullscreen mode.

Square hasn't done anything yet and probably won't.
You can use the FAR mod that fixes the problem and allows other tweaks:

It'sa iiyama.
I think it's not a screen issue but really a multi-gpu issue triggered when there are several screens, in which case windows will assign a gpu to each screen.
The problem is visible with some windows manipulions, when the window is created in one screen and moved to another (but only with some specific moves).
In this cas the gpus didn't transfer the graphic ownership or something like that and the receiving gpu do not have the graphic data to display the window, resulting in a black screen (if there is a rendering update ongoing).

Anyway what I do not understand is why the display choice in the game do not reflect the displays in the OS.

I tried this mod but stopped using it because it was making thinngs weird. It's only making the window appear like if it was fullscreen but it's actually just hiding the borders. So the game don't get the advantages of fullscreen (like more resources allocated) and sometime it leads to weird situations where the window is misplaced but you can't move it back to the right pixel.

Anywyay I ended up playing in windowed mode, whihc mean fps is not as fluid (sync?) but it's still ok and I have the window bar but it's not that bothering.
