Game doesn't start

Not even a error message, nothing. It just doesn't start. Anyone else have this issue?

same problem was happening. I restarted my pc and now its giving me "nier has stopped working" error.

Apparently its a problem with the copyright. My System runs on Windows 8.1 and I use it with Start8 and ModernMix. I just took it out of autostart and now the game runs finally. Just try to disable the programs that run in the backround, that can be disabled and maybe it will work.

I had the same problem as you guys. When I tried to start it straight from the .exe-file I got an error message with missing the vcomp140.dll. Over some research I got to the point that it might be solved with reinstalling Visual C++ Redistributable.
I got the files from here:

I downloaded and installed both files (because it said so) and wham, it worked just fine. Even with starting from steam.
I don't know if that helps but i'm just sharing my solution. :)

I solved this problem going to X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\NieRAutomata\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010 and reinstaling the DirectX.

Try installing the F.A.R Mod for Nier Automata!

It works for me because of the mod and it helps a lot with FPS issues.

I had the same problem. put the game down for a few months, came back, doesn't start. Uninstall and re-install the game, no luck. When I originally installed the game at launch it had major issues so I installed the FAR mod. Even after a fresh install it stuck around. It seems like this was my issue. I tried installing a new version, no luck. Used that same installer to uninstall it, no luck(it also seems to not have entirely uninstalled the mod either probably due to different versions of the installer). I banged my head on it for a long time. Re-installed DirectX, set to run as admin, tried every compatibility mode, nothing.

and deleted the file mentioned. Went ahead and did a fresh re-install of the FAR mod which was just released.

Now I'm up and running.


TLDR; if you had FAR installed: run as admin just to be safe, delete dxgi.dll from steamapps/common/nierautomata, reinstall the latest version of FAR.

The way I got it to start was open properties for the game, go to local files, browse local files, and there should be another Nier shortcut in the folder, click that and it should start the game
