Before spamming "unpacking stuck at 99% HELP!!!" (Tomorrow)
This is 100% normal... The game has to unpack all the files seeing it stuck at 99% for 30+ min is because of your slower end CPU &/or HDDrpm... Don't restart steam or the PC it's just gonna take your slower end PC even longer to unpack...

Owning a SSD & a good CPU takes less than 5 min to fully unpack.

I would try to restart the download in your case and see if it finishes it, the files should already been there so there shouldn't any download of the ones already on your system needed again.

I was away as it did it, but it says complete so i assume it had no problem.
But a thing is, i saw the folder in steam is completly emty is this a normal thing if you pre-load a game?

Expect at least 30 threads asking this tomorrow. And like I always say: don't preload if you have a good conection, you will be more time unpacking the files than downloading the "normal" files once its avariable.

Well, define "good connection" here i have 25 mbit/s down and the initial dl showed me around 3 to 4 hours to pre load the 26,6 gb in the evening as i started it.

Also is there a a thing i can do to force the unpacking or have i just to wait and hope it does it on it's own?

Restart steam after release time or try to launch the game that will start the unpacking.

Once you have preloaded it will began to unpack it alone when its released, you don't have to do nothing. In weird cases it won't but that usually gets fixed by just restarting your Steam client.

I still got the problem. I waited 6h for it to unpack the files but nothing happened. I restartet steam, pc and also deleted the existing file and started to download it once again and it kept getting stuck on the 99% mark. I dunno what else to do.

I started the pre-load, but by the time the download finished, the game was already released.

After the download finished Steam just said "Play" for NieR: Automata and when I clicked on it, it took a couple of seconds and the game started, didn't see anything that needed unpacking
