Do I need to play the other games in the series?

Isn't this connected to other games other then NieR? They plan to bring any of that to PC? If not then what the hell is the point of bringing this game to PC?

Not necessarily to play the other parts, but you need to know lore for sure

You should really play NieR at the very least. The Drakengard games, not so much, but it would be interesting for you to know the lore and general story behind those games.

I've always been really interested in Drakenguard but I will never put my hands on a ps3 or 4 so it's never going to happen. Why bring this to PC without at the very least the first NieR game? This is ridiculous

Yoko Taro has already said that, if Automata sold well, there would be a very high chance for a remaster of the first NieR game. That could mean a PC version, so, you know what to do...

He hasn't spoken about Drakengard, sadly. You could theorically emulate the first Drakengard though. The emulation for PS2 games should be advanced enough by now. Maybe not the third game though.
