Another thing to ponder: if Adam and Eve are the closest a machine has created to an android, then is this is how androids are made?
Their creation is kinda a mystery for me too, I don't get the whole scene. I mean sure, the machines formed a cocoon, some yellow(ish) fluid showed up (resembling to molten metal) and bang, Adam was born. I was like WTF did I just see...
Also they look humanoid (hence resembling androids as they themselves resemble humans) but apart from that they are shown to be very different in both abilities and behaviour. I'd say they are as different from other machines as they are from androids, but didn't read anything specific.
Well they were created from other machines so a cocoon is a better analogy imo (in utero the embrio develops from invisible cells and not from the uterus itself, whereas in a cocoon insects transform their own body like the machines did in the game) but we won't argue on that, the uterus is also a good idea and it is surely more connected to human biology (Captain Obvious has spoken) than a cocoon.
Anyway, they were indeed very unique and humanoid, I wouldn't be surprised if they had been the first machines that were created this way (whatever it was).
Since the desert is alluded to be where a certain city once stood (all the stuff you find in the desert for the sidequest) this would make sense but HOW they are connected is beyond me. That is the only thing that is yet to be explained.
Link is a picture of him with the tattoo , you can find more just google eve tattoo

I've seen this possible connection mentioned a couple of times, however I still don't get it what it would mean if it were true. I mean, let's just assume they are connected. Then what? Why does that matter? Would it shed a very different light on something in the game?
(I'm not trying to be dismissive here, honestly don't see why it is important. It could just be reference for fans, like the logic virus and the red eyes. Taro surely likes messing with his fans)

Quite an interesting read. While maybe not directly, but indirectly linked and proof of the same universe.
I also thought it was given for granted that Adam and Eve are the first of their kind, their names kind of imply it too.
To me they represent the apex of the network's attempt at understanding humanity, giving them human looks as imitation (all other anthropomorphic machines seem to be designed so due to practical uses, yet A&E can manipulate matter without contact so it has to be just for the appearance).
[edit]
As for the Watchers point, it is my understanding that the "maso particles" forcibly put victims in contact with the watchers (leading to either "clorination" or becoming Legion), so I think we can assume some kind of link between Eve (if not the whole machine network) and such particles.
Yet that wouldn't explain the specific symbol (unless it's chosen by the watchers themselves and not the cult? I haven't played any Drakengard) and "maso particles" aren't mentioned since the Gestalt Project as far as I know...
All Machines and later Logic virus infected Androids have red eyes. Red eyes syndrome, originated from One (clone) and infect human (and humanoid) via blood (Drag-On Dragoon - Shi ni Itaru Aka), definitely sounds familiar. And Cult of the Watchers were created by One (clone)'s incestuous descendants. But I don't know how he managed to make descendants considering he's obviously hot for One (original), selfcest style. One's corruption came from the evil flower that gave the original Intoner power and wanted to destroy mankind, maybe it originated from the Ark that the machine launched.
What's with Drakengard incest though, so many frigging incest twins and brother/sister everywhere.
