unless you're a diehard nier automata fan (like me :D) then i'd say probably not, but the dlc does add a few new costumes, and makes it possible to do a true NG+ by letting u get items from the dlc coliseums to reset your level or make it so u gain 0 xp and still let u keep all your weapons and upgrades and what not. If you do all the coliseums, it could easily add 3-4 more hours of content and theres a little bit of story added in this dlc. So let those additions be the deciding factor for you i suppose.

Sorry to highjack your thread OP, I have few questions about the DLC too.

I couldn't care less about the costumes, I just want to play the arena because I enjoy the combat. Few questions though: will the arenas be accessible right away or I need to finish the game 3 times first? Also, can I select any character to participate in any arena or is each one tied to a specific character? And finally, when I fight in the arena, will I be using my own gears and chips or will I be given specific equipment to fight with?

Thanks!

There are 3 arenas. One of em can only be access by 9S. The other 2 can be access by all of 3 characters. Yes once you complete the story, you can play any of the character and jump into the arena. The battle level start from 10 ( i thknk) and to level 135 npc. It will be tough. It will also give you a good loot randomly with +6

You need to beat the game to access the arenas. Yes, You'll be using your own chips and gears,

They should be accessibly right away, you should get in in-game email that starts the quest. The Arena’s themselves were ok, but not very long or difficult - did the first 2 at 69 and am working on 9S at 70. A2’s arena was a bit annoying with with stuff like can’t dodge or can’t touch the floor. 92 is about controlling robots to fight for you, 2B is the only one with a normal fight waves of robots stuff.

You use your own gear for 2B and A2, though you can't use items. I'm not sure if plug-in chips effect the robots you control with 9S.

argh sounds like only one arena is actually interesting for me. I just want to fight waves and waves of enemies because the campaign fights are too scattered and short. Maybe debug room is better for me though I need to finish the game 3 times (so I don't need to do this for arena unlike what the above post said?)

When I bought the DLC I already beat the games and didn't delete the save data, so I was just assuming you need to beat the game before you can acess the arena.

no worries I think a lot of people have this misconception lol

It really depends on your judge about the value.

Three costumes are from the previous game.If you had enjoyed the previous, the costumes would worth more than just new costumes to you. They awaken people's memory.

Three arenas are also impressive. Each of three arenas has different themed 6+1 ranks of fight. Platinum Games built a really good game engine why not fight more.
As the game Nier Automata is designed to be as easy as everybody could enjoy, the EX rank of dlc arena really changed. They are damn hard, hard, hard.
I mean it's really hard, maybe even harder than the dark souls series. No items, no auto-chips, without good post-game plug-in chips, it could hardly be finished.
Especially the flooded city arena, EX rank is boss rush. If you max out the best post-game defense chips(+8), you could stand only one hit from the mobs not even a boss, within time limit you could finish the first half of the fight. In order to finish the whole fight, you have to farm the best attack chips and perfectly evade all types of enemy attack. Without proper chips, even debug mode, it is hard to finish. Imagine an hour of time limit and still not enough dps.

Three different theme of arena are also enjoyable. Flooded City is the normal fight. Desert is themed various limitation in fight, which would probably inherited from previous game's desert culture. It could be fun. The forest arena, you fight as machine lifeform.

I assume you had already finished Nier Automata. Then we could know that this game is not simple hero saved the world plot. It is much more complicated and twisted. Difference between android and iOS machine lifeform is not good vs bad, justice vs evil. It is more like that kind of story, some thing happened, although it is the same thing, but different witness would tell different story. Player had been acting as an android, player would sympathize android more by nature. Many subquests tried to balance it, but not enough. So, there comes the dlc. Although still not enough, but in the little story in dlc, player is literally acting as a machine lifeform. This is... good.
By the way, there is an MV in the dlc story part, which is available on youtube https://youtu.be/HEf7p_7MjkM
Dollfie dream had announced to sell the 2B doll.

In flooded city arena, there is also a "hidden" boss fight. Literally a boss fight. They have made models of Platinum Games's CEO and Square Enix's CEO as enemy.
This kind of humor entertains many people.

To be honest, this dlc do not have much content, but very good quality.
It is you to decide whether it worth or not.

The spear is pretty troublesome. They have great range and very fast.

You might observe their attack action and find the cue to do perfect evade or even counter attack. But this need much practice to be steady. If you could, some Overclock chip would be much more fun.
Otherwise, you could try Anti Chain Damage chip, when you got first damage, you become invincible for a little period of time. Together with Auto/Offensive/Deadly Heal chip it could make the fight much easier.

Thnx for the advice. Will try that. The spear npc with cape can turn into a tornado which is a pain to dodge aswell lol

Nope, not even close. It's $5 DLC and that's being generous.
