Bug reports + game crashes
Hi Gamepopper! Been really enjoying Gemstone Keeper and I just wanted to bring to your attention a few snags I've encountered. First, obligatory system specs, and this is all while playing in fullscreen with an Xbox 360 gamepad:

Windows 7 64-bit
i7-2670QM
8 GB RAM
Intel HD3000

- Upon unlocking the 30 kill streak achievement, the screen froze and the session needed to be killed
- About a third of the time I attempt to launch the game, it'll start up to a pure white screen and need to be forcefully quit
- The game froze while playing April 2nd's daily run just after I'd hit 175M
- The game froze again while playing an ordinary run at the same depth level
- Moving back and forth from the gallery room will sometimes overlay weird artifacts and textures over the screen, not sure if this is intentional?
- Speaking to the shopkeeper after returning to the surface after the first boss fight consistently glitches out the screen and requires the game be restarted
- After defeating the tarantula during boss rush and leaving the room, the game consistently crashes after the warp tunnel transition fades to black
- Use of the Xbox 360 controller's d-pad during game mode setup (selecting an explorer, etc.) seems to act as the confirm button
- Not a bug, but lack of an analog deadzone during menus makes for troublesome, accident prone navigation using a gamepad

I wouldn't be surprised if the freezing, graphical glitches and general game crashes I've experienced had to do with the wimpy integrated GPU in my laptop being below system reqs, but I wanted to share this as the lost cash & gems, plus today's daily run attempt getting eaten, has been a little frustrating. Once again, though, really digging the game! Great work :)

UPDATED 08/04/17

- Upon reaching 225M on April 7th's daily run, the black background inverted (which has been a sign of game crash incoming)
- ...and upon dying, the daily run score was inflated tremendously, my username was appended with 'LethalFrag" on the leaderboard, and returning to the main menu and then attempting to access the Daily Run screen froze the game
- Returning to the surface after surpassing 175M and entering the gallery room will occasionally freeze the game
- The splintering Copyright enemies can sometimes have their minis spawn inside walls where they seem permanently trapped and unkillable
- Build 1.0.1 adding mouse control to all menu screens has seemingly broken gamepad controls in the shop

Thank you very much for taking time to set this up! I've started fixing a few of these. I'll most likely get a updated build uploaded sometime on Friday evening.

No worries! Good to hear you're looking into things. I noticed on Twitter that it's proving to be something of a challenge to recreate these crashes; if there's anything else I can offer up to help nail these issues down, just let me know. Also, I've updated the original post with a few more snags.

One more thing: with a little over 3 hours logged now with the game, I have yet to see a single card drop. Out of curiosity, is the drop rate set crazy high or is there possibly something wonky with Gemstone Keeper's trading card config? Trading card release state definitely isn't the clearest of things to edit in Steamworks.

Enjoyable game. Some achievements seem to be broken though. I finished 500m and only 1st Boss is achieved.

I have found the cause of this bug, the game wasn't reaching the code to set the achievement after you defeat any boss after the first. A fix is available in the beta build (which you can opt into in the properties) however that build only works on Windows 8 and up.

Build v.1.0.1a is now online, and should contain a fix for the achievements, the daily run leaderboards and should have gamepad support for Windows 7 and up. :)
