Basement (spoilers) - need advice

Hey everyone. If you've been to the basement in Act 3 please let me know if you've passed the part with the shadow man. I can't seem to get by them. i've watched videos of people getting by them but it's not working for me. I even pick up the TV and think that if i hold it they will think i'm one of them but that doesnt seem to work. I can walk backwards down the hallway but i always get caught. I cannot run past it no matter which way i try or how long i wait to run out. It's frustrating and screams of more bad design for this game.

I pushed my way through alphas, betas, and now the launch and i'd like to finish this with my son who loves this game.

We are stuck. Help?

You need to have the supermarket ability and crouch to become invisible. Wait for the shadow to disapear then you can explore the rest of the basement.

ok thank you. ill go back and do that. im not sure why i didnt, but i wasnt sure what was in the basement this time around. in beta and alpha you needed double jump to get past the basement but now i see i need something different. Thanks for the help.

You still need to double jump over a metal fence later in the basement ;)

You also have to beat a certain mini-game that I refuse to mention to get the ability to push the neighbor back
