True ending

I personally dont think that the game ended with it all being a dream. Why would it give memories of the neighbor going through hard time? like the car crash/ hospital etc. The game also had a recuring theme of two kids a boy and a girl which i would like to believe are the neighbors kids.

Anyone else have theories or suggestions on any other endings?

It does seem a bit too set on memories to be just a dream. CaptainSauce found an interesting detail in the car crash scene after you get caught a few times (act 1). The Neighbor limps to his car and is distraught. On the ground close to the window you're looking out of, there's a woman's shoe. Perhaps the Neighbor's wife died in that crash (it wouldn't make sense for him to cry at nothing in his car), thus causing a downward cognitive spiral of lost hopes and dreams of having a family. To offset his despair, he kidnaps kids and forces them to live out their days in his basement. It could be about a bereaved father/husband unable to face reality.

Just my thoughts though.

STILL, there's not quite enough information to make a solid conclusion. Kinda wish there was a LOT more canon given... Perhaps this game was meant to be abstract all along..
